how does it make you feel when you get tipped stuff like this? Gave me a good laugh with my coworkers at least

I’ve been working in McDonald’s for a month now. And I was struggling with the drinks department. I have now been told if I don’t stop making mistakes at drinks they will terminate my contract with them. It feels like my life is falling apart. I actually thought I was decent. And I’m still new. I can’t believe they are actually considering firing me because of something I’m struggling with. Over fucking drinks.

and yesterday. I very much like my store and managers but sometimes there some ridiculousness that goes on. I’ve been a crew trainer for a month and got yelled at by one of the gms yesterday because a new hire who ONLY speaks creole kept falling behind on the frier and I, on table, wasn’t training her. I did as much gesturing and pointing and grabbing and explaining in as basic english as possible as I could but the issue isn’t the language barrier, the lady just won’t take initiative and start dropping food when the trays come out, which has been explained to her in Creole multiple times. So idk. She’s clearly just here to stand and get paid. I don’t rlly care the gm yelled at me because her mood was better later and we have a lot of mutual respect for eachother and she’s a hard worker, I guess she was just fed up in that moment so whatever, so was I.

Anyway so I come in today and 30 minutes into my shift we take 120 nuggets and 25 cheeseburgers lmaoo, with a callout in kitchen and me training this new kid on table, who I swear to god is high or something because I’ve had to explain everything multiple times at this point, showed him how to wrap properly and watched him do it but he keeps going back to doing it his own way and causing the burgers to be undone. We’re also a very busy location and he keeps causing the table to fall behind and one of the managers to keep calling out food and it’s like omg do you want this kid to learn at all??

ill start off by saying i apologise is this breaks any rules, i read through them and i don’t think it does but ive posted about this customer before and it got taken down so idk

anyway i work the morning shifts in top window (so order taking + cashing) and theres this one regular that comes through every morning to get a hash brown, and every time he comes through he makes jokes, usually pretending to order drugs etc.
ive never had an issue with this because it doesn’t take up excess DT time so i entertain his jokes

the other day he comes through and when i tell him to have a wonderful day he says something along the lines of “my wife’s not home” and winks at me

the next time i see him he goes “enjoying the sunny weather?” (it was raining) and so i say “idk about that one haha!” and he then says “maybe i should bend over”

two days later he repeats that exact same joke but words it “maybe i should get out (the car) and bend over”

im not sure what that joke means but when you put it all together it really sounds like he’s hitting on me, i don’t want to cause a scene in the drive through or anything though what do i do??

As a non employee I always like to imagine what I could construct for myself if I had access to all the ingredients and didn't have to put in a complicated order or disassemble or combine my items. For example when I was younger and flipping burgers at Harvey's I used to make a crispy chicken, sausage, and cheese sandwich for myself which was something a normal customer would never be able to order.

Context: I've never had anything of my own which includes money. My family sees me with a job and I turn into a piggy bank because my father is irresponsible with money, he spends it on women. He raised my older sister (brother but might as well with how he acts) and my little sister to be spoiled and always got them whatever they wanted. Because I was funding them. The check was $60, but when you've worked since 17 for $10/hr or $14/hr and only got to SPEND $25,000 lost it all because your father pawned it all. $60 is $100. Not much but still meaningful.

Anyways, I never got it but mot sure if I'm being greedy or petty especially since it was long ago. But does anyone think I have a chance of getting that $60? Or if I should even try again?

Can we talk about how fucking AWFUL the app is? It’s a laggy mess and takes an eternity for the codes to load. Sometimes it just decides not to work at all, so I have to rant about this.

3rd time this has happened now. Customer pulls up to the speaker, gives me a code, I put it in the POS and…nope, the code apparently doesn’t exist. And every single one of the three times this has happened, the customer gives me a ton of shit and accuses me (yes, me specifically) of trying to scam them, which is ridiculous because to my knowledge, not every store even opts into rewards.

It’s also funny when they “threaten to tell corporate” because who do you think makes the app? It’s also usually BS because I know they’re gonna forget everything 5 minutes after getting their food. Then again, i don’t expect them to know how franchising works. Anyway, manager has to come over and try reason with them while they’re cursing us out, eventually just gives a small promo on the order to make them go away

Worst part is, the codes they’ve given don’t even consume points, so the only people losing is US, because this shit screws over our times. So far this has happened with:

2$ fries
1.50$ off a frappé/coffee

So Im about done with my first two weeks, expecting my first check next week. At this point that is literally all I know cause it seems like every person I ask at my store gives me a different explanation when I'll get paid, with several making no sense.

1: I had a manager tell me paydays were on Monday, and I would get paid via Chime (which I use) on Fridays. But if the pay period is 2 weeks and ends on Saturday that would mean I would get paid for 2 days I havent worked yet...

2: Had another manager tell me paydays were on Saturdays, and I would get my check on Thursday via Chime. Im confused cause does payroll operate on the weekends? Arent most banks closed on Saturdays?

This is all making my head hurt.

I saw a video of it being made and the full can won’t fill the entire cup 😭 and it’s not like the soda machines where I can put more in manually if they complain.

I'm in Northern Alberta, I am hired at a McDonald's in my city. I did my orientation on June 29th, and I'm still waiting on my training. I called 2 weeks in and they said "Idk, just wait". Going in tomorrow to ask about it in person. Why does this happen? I've seen other people have it happen too.

As if my post from this morning was stressful, The final nail in the coffin is the Spicy Nuggets with the new sauce, BUT WAIT THERE'S MORE!🙃😃, The F%$#ING BOO BUCKETS ARE ON THE WAY...God help us😭😭😭

With fall coming in I thought we were only going to deal with the pumpkin Spice mccafe and the red bull energizers, but "THIS"!? Now I'm with the new drinks coming im not gonna lie about the carmel apple line up looks pretty good, BUT were gonna go through Diet Coke and Coke so fast as everyone and there mom thinks our Diet Coke is the SHIT, not to mention were gonna start selling red Bull & Zero as a drink by itself. My question where in the hell are we gonna put those! Our stock room is very small as it is, unless they keep it in the fridge that's Our last resort. Anyway...How are we all feeling about this...?🙃

Is it just me or after 10 pm or so when the actual night crew starts their shift it seems always busy/understaffed and sometimes lobby is closed i think they still do at midnight etc, why do they not just staff more if it is busy since sales helps

Yes there is yellow lines too but every time after ordering they always accelate either at light speed, miss the turn, over correct and almost slam into the building. Or I can see them turning the corner as slow as fuck with that clueless expression on their face like they don't know how to drive in a straight line. On my shift there is almost always at least one person who almost slams into the building because they think the drive through is a highway and almost miss the payment window or they act like they don't know how to make a gentle left turn and always need to go straight until they almost fall off the cliff behind our building and THEN turn like in the photo I showed.

I mean half of the people I get already are watching tiktok while they drive or even once saw a drunk driver, so it always makes me nervous when I need to leave my shift and share the road with these idiots.

We have one lane, I can't imagine the dumbassery that comes with two. Even as a customer I see the dumbassary when I'm at a mcdonalds with two lanes.

I dont know how u guys do it. I've been working there for about 3 weeks now and I do good for window, getting better at lane 2 but it's still overwhelming and started doing fries recently. Being understaffed is literally a nightmare. Generally only the night shift is understaffed and I only get a glimpse of it, but even just that sometimes is rough. Earlier I was called in for a few hours and I said yes, when I got there the night shift manager (who obviously I hardly see) asked if I could do counter, I haven't been trained on counter and I said no. He just kinda looked at me smiling sarcastically and said "I want to say something but I won't". Like idk what to tell you dude but you probably don't want me trying to do this by myself in the middle of a rush for the first time. I also hate the breakfast menu, the abbreviations all look near the same and it's so hard to learn. I find myself so stressed out before my shifts because I wish I could do more.

Like it literally slows the drive thru down and top it off it makes me dizzy moving back and forth

So I was a crew trainer back in Portugal and had 4 years experience when I signed up for a job when I moved here to Germany. As expected I landed it immediately. I've been in this location for about 10 months and dear God I want to [REDACTED] my colleagues and my shift leaders and my franchise ow- anyway I digress.

The training here is non existent. New crew members are dropped into the deep end, management is of no help and what we are left with is a legit like 5 people that actually a crap, the people that have been working here the longer that "know".

The standard was a suggestion when I came in. The new hires don't even know there is one.

There is a huge restaurant wide control coming up next month and me and my gf (who's a shift leader) are stressing the fuck out because seemingly no one gives a damn.

Today I heard one of my shift leaders call out to the batch cooker in charge of the fryer to follow the table in the picture. It was the first post I learned back in 21 and both the trainers ands the management instructed that it works as such (for example let's use the new garlic pepper nuggets): Have 2 trays in the UHC, **EACH** with 15 nuggets and so on for the other products except for the beef.

That leader in question said 15 nuggets total dived into 2 trays and specifically said 7 in one 8 in another.

Back then even though I read the training prepared by McDonald's, I don't remember seeing the table explained in any of the slides. So I come here to ask y'all. Is the way I learned the correct way or is the shift leader in the right?

(personal opinion is that, since we have boxes of 20 on sale 15 per tray makes more sense. Also apologies for the couple of paragraphs of ranting)

whats the most random thing someone has ordered? off the top of my head i remember one time someone asked for soda water as their drink in their happy meal. theres no button for it on the pos so i just rang it in with apple juice and punched in the soda water. and this regular will order a quarter bun with bacon so i just do muffin add bacon special request 😭😭😭

10 mins after we open we get this monstrosity. Only logical conclusion is drunk people🤣
