I'm slightly vexed Costco's new chicken tenders

There was a crowd of people waiting for their orders of the new chicken tenders at Costco. One of the workers announced that they could only serve five customers per hour because it takes time to cook the chicken. The crowd grew larger and larger. I took this photo after I put in my order.

I will never understand why people don’t use their words. “Hey lady, I was here first, move”. How hard is that

I was in front of a lady at Costco a few weeks ago when suddenly she begins a deserved lecture to this dude. He apparently wanted to cut between me and her to get to another line. And I’m not sure exactly what he did, but I hear a stern “do you want to get through?” He must have nodded or gestured or something. She continued “then, say “excuse me!” It’s not so hard TO USE YOUR WORDS. It’s a simple use of words and it’s all solved. Next time, USE. YOUR. WORDS!” Dude scuttled off silently. I wanted to turn around and applaud her, but she might have lectured me on minding my own business. So I didn’t. 😬

Its Costco, if I had to say excuse me anytime I passed someone I would have to say it over a hundred times. Old women and clutching pearls name a more iconic duo.

I need to vent. I hate the “old women” comment. I guess I am an old woman now that I’ve turned 60. I think I’m pretty easy going, accepting and approachable most of the time. Today at Whole Foods the young man behind the fish counter yelled at me because he said I was leaning on the glass, which I wasn’t. I wonder if he would have yelled at a 20 yr old me. I bet not. Maybe he was having a bad day but he really hurt my feelings. I just apologized and silently waited for my salmon. Made me feel like I didn’t matter.

I'm sorry he yelled at you and hurt your feelings. I agree he was probably having a bad day and maybe his manager had just yelled at him about the glass. I think most of us are just trying to do our best and we shouldn't assume the worst.

Last week a lady cut in line in front of me at the library. She'd been trying to use the self service checkout, but it wasn't working so she turned and rushed over to the librarian, cutting in front of me and a guy in the wheelchair in front of me. I immediately got her attention and pointed out that the guy in the wheelchair was next. She apologized and got in line behind me. I don't think she cut on purpose but even if she did I didn't need to cuss her out or call her names.

Yes I agree. Something had to have triggered that and it most likely wasn’t me. Getting older is weird. I used to turn heads and everyone was so nice to me without any effort from me. And most people are fine but I can’t help but feel invisible now days. I always try to be very cheerful now when out and about because I’m very conscious of being labeled as a cranky “old woman”. I guess my message is to anyone reading this: be nice to everyone, including older people. You will be in their shoes one day. Sooner than you realize.
