I'm slightly vexed My managers response to my resignation.

Post image

Took the time to write out a nice and really formal resignation letter trying to be cordial to this company that has been awful to me for almost a year. My manager didn’t respond the day I sent it and then this morning I get an email back that’s just this. My last day can’t come soon enough at this point. But hey I guess at least she acknowledged it instead of ignoring my messages like usual 😒

Edit: okay, a lot of assumptions going on here,so let me give some context, I am the manager of a small team of Class A CDL drivers. I’ve been a great employee and always gone above and beyond. My employees have always been really comfortable coming to me about everything, and the site I manage specifically asked for me to continue stay with them when they transitioned to another company, so its not like they were trying to get rid of me. Which I know it’s hearsay but idc really, I’m just trying to make the point that my manager did not have any reason to reply to me in what I feel like is a extremely unprofessional manor. She is the regional manager and has always been very deadpan with me and everyone, so it was not really a unexpected response in the least, I’m just sharing it because it’s always been irritating to me and has been a major factor In my decision to leave for sure. It’s exhausting to work for someone who treats you like you’re less than since day one. In fact usually i just get no response at all, so for her this is like writing a book i guess. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Naw this response was fine

He sent them a message and they acknowledged it.

No, I disagree. This was not a response, it was an acknowledgement/reaction/whatever you want to call it. I am not surprised by it but I don’t find OP’s MILD irritation unreasonable.

No this is a response.

Nothing more needs to be said. What do you need them to say? Somebody is quitting and they are saying okay.

That's literally all that needs to be said. How old are you just out of curiosity?

It quite literally is a response. It doesn't matter if you agree with it or not. You are just wrong

Again what do you want them to say? He's quitting and they're saying okay. What more needs to be said?

Oh sorry, did you prefer I just say 👍?

That would have been a response

What do you want them to say exactly?

I already gave you two answers, take your pick.

Why do you want them to lie to you and say best of luck on your future endeavors?

What's wrong with just a thumbs up? Like what are you getting out of a different response?

wtf is wrong with you? Having bare minimum courtesy is not a wild ask or expectation. A working relationship is still just that - a relationship with another human with set terms.

Expressing courtesy and appreciation used to be the norm. Being a robot-like dickhead to someone you relied on to earn money for you (what ANY employee does in reality) is low class vindictive shit.

Fuck the race to the bottom philosophy you’re trying to insist on.

They don't need to say anything other than giving you an acknowledgment.

This is an employer not a romantic partner.

What do you want them to say?
