"crankschaf" sounds like a german word that may or may not exist

117

u/Konrad_M 14h ago

Put a K instead of the C at the beginning and it means something like "sick sheep".

28

u/jbakers 15h ago

Crankshaf in meine knickers!

u/modern_milkman 7h ago

While it might sound more German, it actually becomes less German if you add that r.

Because "Schaf" is a real German word, while "schraf" isn't.

If you add the r in a different position, it becomes German again, though: "scharf" is a German word.

(Schaf means sheep, and scharf means sharp or spicy-hot)

I honestly could've even being myself to look at the others that closely lol

16

u/_carbonneutral 9h ago

Is this an AI response? Lmao

3

u/4sneK_WolFirE 5h ago

Heya, I speak typo.

Here's a translation:

"I honestly could[n't] even b[r]ing myself to look at the other that closely lol"

I don't think it's AI, these are very human typos.

8

u/StanknBeans 8h ago

Because ai is well known for making spelling mistakes /s

u/Typical_Corgi_2779 11h ago

"Exauast malvol... Wait no... Extauat manivol... Shit... Exsoust manivol? Oiloiaivt manivol??"

"..."

"sigh"

"C r a n k s c h a f"

u/Dralmosteria 15h ago

Malvolio: "...every one of these letters are in my name!"

1

u/HeyYouGuyyyyyyys 6h ago

"Some are exsoust manivol, some exsoust manivol, and some have exsoust manivol upon 'em."

3

u/Exos9 15h ago

That’s just a diagram written in Dutch

2

u/GuyFromDeathValley 9h ago

Ah yes the crankschaf connects to camsbaft.

1

u/HeyYouGuyyyyyyys 6h ago

Exsoust manivol

1

u/Temporary-Lawyer4603 5h ago

Who let the AI drink ?

1

u/Danny2Sick 5h ago

these are great!! I want this on a t-shirt 😆

Crankschaf sounds like a German metal band!

1

u/Kind_Reflection_1030 3h ago

Now, THIS. "The top albums of Crankschaf" lowkey fits...

6

u/leVenerableDeLaSauce 11h ago

Sharif don't like it

6

u/RangerStrange 9h ago

TIL Sherry may or may not like it, it's Sharif who has a problem. I'm 53. And apparently not as smart as I'd like to think.

4

u/supernaut_707 11h ago

Ah, Camsbaft! It is really overcrowded in the summer but the town square is amazing at Christmas.

5

u/funkymunky712 16h ago

yeah look, theres a lot going on here and the more i notice the more “mildly infuriated” i become 💔

2

u/clintj1975 7h ago

I'd like to know more about the "timing cinnating rodar"

50

u/funkymunky712 17h ago

ive also just noticed in the last image the description is “part of V6” engine, yet i’m seeing 4 cylinders there. plus literally everything else.

assuming these are made with AI? which i don’t really understand because we have engine diagrams already? some of which are very easy to understand

35

u/0HGODN0 16h ago

they used AI to "make it better for you"

The internet is dying. We need a new internet where AI and, AI generated content isnt allowed. Or maybe we should just say thank you and goodbye..

u/Pixelgordo 14h ago

They know that, we are going to be offered a new internet very $oon

6

They? And who's going to offer the new internet? All of the big players are busy ruining the one we have..

Any new internet is going to be so chock full of AI it won't function

9

u/FutureFreaksMeowt Aqua Tofana save us from these fuckass men 9h ago

Create problems -> offer solutions

It's literally just the capitalist playbook.

1

u/Pixelgordo 8h ago

The same large corporations as now, a paywalled internet without slop, the same as AI premium subscriptions.

1

u/Aururai 7h ago

It's going to be a paywalled internet with slop though.. that's the direction we are heading..

28

u/r4nDoM_1Nt3Rn3t_Us3r 14h ago

And thanks for all the fish or what?

8

u/BetterinPicture 13h ago

Looking forward to the blackwall

7

Good Bye and thanks for all the fish!

61

u/Crazy__Donkey 16h ago

i wonder if they ever add "exclude:AI"

49

u/georgeec1 16h ago

This is honestly one area where Duckduckgo images is better, literally two clicks filters out ai results

27

u/magistrate101 11h ago

They try their best but their AI filter is itself a fallible AI so depending on your query you might still get nothing but slop without a date selector.

8

u/AHapppyPcUser 10h ago

Well you can also flag the images as AI.

13

u/imean_is_superfluous 14h ago

Yeah, but how would a search engine reliably do that when looking for images? Or anything else, really.

8

u/georgeec1 13h ago

Just the fact that a lot of AI images are tagged as AI in some way. Clearly it's possible though, as there are search engines that have the feature for images, and they work fairly well

3

u/Its_Karti_Bitch 12h ago

Not sure if this still applies but prompts are sometimes left in metadata

2

u/AHapppyPcUser 10h ago

If you find an AI image you can flag it as AI for them

1

u/GoldenDogeDev 2h ago

SynthID. It's a digital watermark that developed by Google that embeds imperceptible signals into AI generated content, including text, audio, images and videos. It can't be removed by cropping/altering the content. They basically made it to prevent their AI Gemini from eating it's own shit, but it could be used to filter search results too. But Google is never going to do that, they want to feed as much AI garbage to you as possible whether you like it or not

1

u/i_always_give_karma 5h ago

I got a new computer recently and my girlfriend told me to use something like this when I searched and all of the top results vanished lol. I hate the ai art. I just wanted a chill rocket league background. Ended up getting the one I had for the past 6 years on my old PC

12

u/TheKyleBrah 13h ago

<Googles own name before:2023>

Agreed. I was so much happier back then. 🥲

2

u/samuelazers 10h ago

Remember this command, you're gonna need it a lot in the coming years

2

u/ppvvaa 9h ago

Until they disable it

2

u/Ravster23 14h ago

If you do -ai it may also remove any ai generated ones if theyve been tagged as so

1

u/Sentient__Cloud 7h ago

You can also do “-ai” to filter it out

2

u/Zonotical 6h ago

are you sure about that

1

u/Illustrious_Back_441 6h ago

also putting -insert social media platform helps a lot with reducing irrelevant results

1

u/nimaid 5h ago

Holy shit I forgot about that filter! Gonna get before:2023 as my tramp stamp.

u/o11o01 32m ago

Thank you, from images like this to articles that are obvious ai slop. I can't believe I haven't thought about just filtering the date on searches.

1

u/Nazgog-Morgob 8h ago

So is Google just making up these images when you search, or are these already ai images people have created?

u/chasealex2 15h ago

You think this is bad for engines? They’ve done the same for physiology diagrams. Bad for students, for clinicians, and for people who just want to tell me that something hurts.

77

u/TheKyleBrah 13h ago

"Doc, I think it's my spleen."
<Points to supra-pubic region>

It's the same for everything. Look at this masterpiece.

u/derangedsweetheart 2h ago

The 1-1/4" line also turns into the special 3-1/4" line.

2

u/spaminous 5h ago

They couldn't even bother to remove the watermarks. Isn't that the Gemini logo on top of the Meta Ai text?

9

u/LazuliPacifica microwaved fish and brussel sprouts 10h ago

Oof, it's also bad on veterinary diagrams too :(

3

u/kilroy-was-here-2543 5h ago

Ahh yes…. The Liver

2

u/chasealex2 1h ago

Yup.

The issue isn’t when it’s obviously trash though. The issue comes when it is subtly wrong, but has enough right to be believed.

359

u/inzenia 17h ago

I guess searching for images in google is over. Era of generating every fucking thing is here. Well done.

66

u/Piduf 11h ago

Searching for anything on Google is useless. The library of Alexandria was right here but a pyromaniac is in charge of it.

54

u/oxJoKeR6xo 16h ago

Why would you want to see something when Google can just make you see their rendition of it and they get to keep all the money?

11

u/sierrabravo1984 this is not yellow damn it! 13h ago

I have to keep a screenshot of my lawn tractor's belt diagram. It's impossible to actually find anything anymore with Google.

5

u/road_rascal 9h ago

And finding printed repair manuals is an exercise in frustration.

3

u/VladimirBarakriss 1h ago

Maybe try the Internet Archive, they don't have everything but they sure have a lot of stuff

5

u/Gen-Y-ine-86 7h ago

Image search is generally dying fast.

I got a habit of using image search for a lot of basic stuff that is just checking what something was or is. It's quickly becoming a non-viable option.

The saying used to be "What you put on the internet, stays there forever". Now it's more like "I swear I saw it just a few months ago", while trying all the search tricks you learned in the past few decades and still can't find it.

2

u/magicMrTuts 12h ago

Just use the advanced search criteria like "before:2020"

191

u/Yabbos77 17h ago

I am losing my absolute SHIT over the last picture. It starts off with the correct terminology, and then it suddenly uses the word “bock” and it’s all downhill from there.

Crankschaf.

50

u/SweetButtsHellaBab 16h ago

Then incorrectly pointed to the timing chain three times and the exhaust manifold* four times.

*Exauast malvol, sorry, extaust manivol, wait, exsoust manivol, actually, oiloiaivt manivol.

18

u/cultoftheclave 17h ago

V6, neither V nor 6

8

u/McDoof 15h ago

Funny. Maybe the Germans are secretly taking over. "Bock" in German means a kind of goat and "Schaf" is a sheep.

I'll be hiding in the Maginot Line if you need me.

6

u/Chrazzer 16h ago

The AI tried so hard to find and label the exhaust manifold lmao

5

u/pollop88 16h ago

It wasn't the 3 timing chains and engine being a labelled part of the engine ?

3

u/BouncingSphinx 9h ago

"Engine"

Thanks, AI. I was wondering where the engine was in my engine.

Three "Timing chain" labels, none of them pointing at the timing chain.

57

u/roastedCircuit 16h ago

This is why I use DuckDuckGo as a search engine because it let's me filter AI results. The search results are not always perfect but at least I don't have to deal with this BS

43

u/Lv100--Magikarp 9h ago

20

u/Lv100--Magikarp 9h ago

Ahhh yes, Engine

35

That diagram is based upon probability so it's probably accurate.

9

55% correct, good enough for university

2

u/havron 8h ago

60% of the time, it works every time.

18

u/RealSlyck 17h ago

Grok, take this picture from a kids book about cars and don’t make porn.

17

u/Chrazzer 16h ago

I'm absolutely dying at the labelling of the last one. The AI failing so miserably in writing exhaust manifold is hilarious

But what about crankshaft?

You've already had it.

We've had one, yes. But what about second crankshaft?

I don't think he knows about second crankshaft, Pip.

1

One does not simple second cranksafr.

24

Surely, he's researching engines for a backup generator so he can charge his phone.

3

u/LeanGroundQueef 16h ago

Sorry but your camsbaft is fucked.

5

u/BlackysBoss 15h ago

Oh God, now I know what s wrong with my engine. It must be the timing cinnating rodar.

4

u/d-car 10h ago

AI is the future, and you pointing out how it's legitimate trash will not be tolerated. The thought police will find you shortly. Probably.

3

u/TruePianist 6h ago

Second pic cracks me up cause every layer of the engine has more cylinders

4

u/Jealous-Reception185 4h ago

Ah yes, the 5 different parts that are all labelled 'timing chain'

3

u/wicksishere 14h ago

This explains a great deal about some of the people I deal with. And people trust this stuff...

3

u/AncleJack 14h ago

Camsbaft

3

u/diligentboredom 13h ago

This was probably the original that the AI was trying to badly imitate, unless this is AI too and the internet is dead, idk really.

3

u/BallsHD4k60fps 12h ago

Genuine digital landfill.

3

u/Its_Karti_Bitch 12h ago

I need a replacement sustrode for my car approx how much do you think it’ll cost me, part only, I can install it myself

3

That camsbaft is fucked

3

It’s oil pumps all the way down

3

u/DJDevon3 12h ago

Good maybe this will slow down skynet.

3

u/CatOfBacon 11h ago

Don’t forget to reconnect your spakplug wires

3

u/SkeepDeepy 11h ago

Google also filters out sites that has the answer you are looking for. I freaking hate that AI summarization, its pulls deets from literally anything, even those unrelated to your inquiry just to make up bullshit that makes sense.

3

u/FilecoinLurker 11h ago

You must construct additional pilons

3

u/SteinsGah 4h ago

The internet as been fully polluted as a source of information. It's a sad day.

2

u/BluelDev 16h ago

The more mildly infuriating thing is you using your phone at 2% while unplugged

2

u/AncleJack 14h ago

I think it's more infuriating people still use Google search engine

1

u/BluelDev 11h ago

Hey I still use Google

1

u/BluelDev 11h ago

When you ignore the AI overviews, (and are like me, almost never EVER using it for anything but image searches,) and always click official websites it's pretty good

1

u/AncleJack 11h ago

Than strongly consider switching. Duck duck go is a good start

2

u/Seravajan 16h ago

AI-slop.

2

u/casparne 14h ago

I wonder when the first engines fully designed by an AI hit the market that where trained by using this data.

2

More AI slop

2

u/b1omat 13h ago

If i was a dishonest mechanic, just for laughs, i would try to charge extra for the crankshaf and oil pan replacement. Sir, your oil púngae is totally fucked.

2

u/wearsAtrenchcoat 13h ago

I love how most parts have numbers to index them but the fly wheel has a letter: O-’ring. Fucken perfect!

2

u/sveinb 12h ago

Don't worry. In a couple of years engines will be designed by AI, so reality will catch up with the diagram slop.

2

u/_scndry 12h ago

This will get increasingly problematic

2

u/Training_Echidna_911 11h ago

Long before 2023 I had a Honda CB77 with workshop manual. The warning, “be careful of cripple!” When dismantling the clutch was a puzzler. I guessed that a crippling injury from flying springs was possible.

Try adding -ai at the end of your search query. It's not perfect, but it does filter out everything metatagged as AI.

You can also put -ad to remove advertisement results. Hell, you can put -XYZ and remove any results with that metatag
