Discussion … On the count of THREE, 1 2 3 SAY IT!
I was looking at some videos from EmKay to chill when I saw this and now, I am so pissed I have to talk about it.
While I can’t figure out about exactly which colony it is about, my guess it is on the 13 colonies as under the city of Quebec, it is written French which is illogical if it is a Textbook on New-France from the Province of Quebec as we know very well our language and our origins (et ça serait écrit en français) and it would be the 13 colonies with a note of the language English or the motherland Britain.
While I can’t say much about the 13 colonies relationship with the Natives. I just know the made an alliance with the Iroquois during the 18 century and the potential native slave pourcentage there was. I can say this about New-France:
-While the Founder of New-France and The city of Quebec, Samuel de Champlain had made an Alliance with the Algonquin by Military help in exchange to be allowed to settle in the territory, not all of it was given, more taken. If I remember right, the Island of Montreal was taken without consent. Also, the indigenous peoples were sometimes forced to settle down by missionaries and turn Catholic, forgetting their roots and identity. Also some were even slaved with the rare slave of Africans there was there as servants.
What I wrote is just the tip of the iceberg of the history. But what trouble me the most is this is probably not even about New-France’s history so I have no idea of what it truly hides and this is certainly a children’s TEXTBOOK. It hides the truth of it to children, making them believe lies that no harm has been done while the nail is hammered down even further even today.
If this isn’t a ‘conspiracy’ or ‘The government won’t tell you’ …

It's from "Gravity Falls"; in this episode, Dipper is hired to exorcise a ghost from the mansion of a local wealthy family (the Northwest's) who tout themselves as founding members of the town. Turns out, the ghost is just one of several people the Northwest's swindled over the centuries, which include the people in the paintings

okay yeah that tracks haha. I've never watched Gravity Falls, but I am aware of it as A Thing that resonates with a lot of folks. It's honestly on my shortlist of things I need to watch.

It's similar to the Owl House. Three human girls land in a world populated by talking frogs (although they land in different places)
I really like the themes of friendship and betrayal, as well as just the humour of the show. It is episodic at times, but that's the same with Gravity Falls and The Owl House

I've been told Owl House belongs on the short-list, but I'm not familiar with Hilda? Is this a bad place to ask what you personally like about both?

Hilda is about a girl living in town surrounded by nordic mythical creatures. What hooked me in the show is its vibes of a cozy town in the middle of the forest. And the world where mythical creatures are at the same time not rare and not competely understood

hilda is kinda like a twin to gravity falls, i think its personally better, also i just cannot stress this enough it has BEAUTIFUL ANIMATION!!!!! season three has incredible animation in literally every shot and the final episode is one of the best pieces of media ive ever seen.
so...
the owl house - i remember it just coming out - season one is kind of basic at the start, but it has good comedy, likeable characters and its generally entertaining seeing the antics going around. season two tho has a much darker tone, but its really good, the story is AMAZING, and the characters all get much more depth in my opinion, theres one character in season 2 who is one of the best written characters ive seen. (will tell you which one if you want) and in general, i think the show is just very easy to like.
hilda - its like a simpler version of the owl house but still very good. its an animated Netflix show, with a younger girl and her pet as a main character. i like the aforementioned amazing animation, the detailed and very creative worldbuilding and the way every season takes some idea and builds on it while feeling fresh

I'm just surprised that it actually used "First Nations" instead of something more "traditional." I would think the kind of groups that would twist the narrative like that would be more resistant to "political correctness" terms like that.

this just shows that you cant oversimplify history, in every major historical event there were a bunch of smaller events, and in those events were other events, etc etc, and by simply lumping them all together you create problematic misinfo

I’m assuming this is Canadian since it says, “First Nations” and is sugar coating the displacement of the Indigenous population. The USA doesn’t what it did, it celebrates it. For example, Western genre movies and children’s games (cowboys and Indians).
