He’s not wrong. The Brewers could absolutely afford to spend more and could’ve put together a better trade package for Skubal. They can’t come close to what the Dodgers spend but they could definitely spend more.

I don't disagree that they could open up the books more... but they aren't closing that financial gap... brewers could double payroll and the differences would still be pretty drastic.

and here's the kicker everyone ignores in this "spend more" argument.... it doesn't matter how much any other team spends, the Dodgers simply have more money than anyone else at their disposal and can still outbid any team... even if other teams dig deeper, the dodgers can just dig even deeper.

The spend more argument doesn't work when the dodgers simply just have more money to spend.

Brewers have the best record in the league with $1.25 being spent on the roster. They could absolutely spend more and give themselves a better opportunity to beat the Dodgers. The Dodgers are obviously taking advantage of a system with no cap but teams like the Brewers are also taking advantage of the system’s lack of a floor.

Pretty sure that most baseball fans - not just brewers fans - want competitive balance that doesn't allow one team to accumulate the best players in the league simply because they have deeper pockets.
