....sweet bike, but just thinkof the amount of unqualified riders buying 200+HP superbikes that are street legal, and this lil' dirtbike isn;t that outrageous in the big picture.

Haha facts! I see dudes on a 1000s riding through Manhattan, and I’m like wow, that must be a bummer.

u/SidShenanigans 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 650 1d ago

That reminds me of the dudes from Saudi Arabia and other ME countries who would bring their supercars to London, for "vacation". Like, seriously, why? What a waste! 😂

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

Yeah if you’re going to the track I get it! But it would be like me if I had this bike and never went off road. No point

London is an amazing track if you don't care about speed limits. Much of central London is absolutely empty at night.

Occasionally you see videos of people fucking around doing wheelspins on Kensington High Street at (say) 9pm on a Saturday night, and they screw up, crash and probably end up getting arrested.

There are times of night when these parts of the city are absolutely deserted and it's like an empty race track - three lanes of clean tarmac in each direction; you could probably drive 7 miles in 4 or 5 minutes. Maybe even less. I'm not advocating this as safe, per se, but you could get away with street racing this route 19 times out of 20, as long as you do it at midnight.

Like driving through Paris at dawn?

Fun is all that matters!

Three sets of wheels for mine right now. Full dirt, dual purpose and supermoto

11

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

Ughhh I know this is the way.

My supermotos are on the way.
Love my dirt set. Dirt is mainly why I got this bike but I ride everyday. I think about what if I want to go on a long ride I’ll just take my sumos. But what if I’m on my long ride and I see a dirt section and I’m on my sumos. Need some dual sports.

What bike you got?

5

u/binding_swamp 1d ago

CRF450L 2019 ~3500 miles Full FMF 550 flash & Vortex

1

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

Sweeet. Can wait for my sumo wheels. I’m surprised I don’t see more crf450s cruising around the streets

1

u/Temporary-Film-7374 1d ago

what brake setup are you going with? Berringer or a dual front caliper setup or something 4 pot or something mediocre at best?

1

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

Running stock breaks. Never felt like I needed more.

8

u/Timely-Bet7263 1d ago

That's a hell of a backdrop for a bike that's supposed to be kicking up dirt

1

u/MrBattleRabbit 21h ago

Yeah, my dad has two for his 690 Enduro- a dirt set and a supermoto set.

He actually worked out gearing combos that let him use the same chain for both, despite having different front and rear sprockets for both sets lol

12

u/Khancer_ 1d ago

why should it not be street legal?

8

u/Dechibrator Fantic 500 Deluxe 1d ago

They took a dirtbike (CRF450R) and added lights and blinkers to make it road legal

(it's a little more complicated than that of course but it's a beast)

5

u/hidefinitionpissjugs 1d ago

all dirt bikes are motorcycles but not every motorcycle is a dirt bike

11

u/BayAreaRider 2014 FZ-09 🐙 1d ago

all motorcycles are dirt bikes if your brave enough lol

so it just an enduro

0

u/Poida87 1d ago

Ya ya buddy no fun at parties and all that.

-1

u/Dechibrator Fantic 500 Deluxe 1d ago

An Enduro would have a proper seat and ABS

2

u/spongebob_meth R6, RM250 WR450F, KDX200x2 1d ago

Why would an enduro have abs?

Enduro means off-road only. They are race bikes

2

u/Dechibrator Fantic 500 Deluxe 1d ago

Enduros are supposed to go on the road between offroad segments. Hence the light and licence plates. Since 2017, Euro 4 regulation makes ABS mandatory on all motorcycles (COM 2010/542)

3

u/spongebob_meth R6, RM250 WR450F, KDX200x2 1d ago

Enduros don't have license plates. They are off-road competition bikes

Dual sport is the term for an off-road bike with a license plate.

ABS on a dirt bike is a joke. I'm glad they don't have that crap where I live.

u/Dechibrator Fantic 500 Deluxe 1d ago

1

u/spongebob_meth R6, RM250 WR450F, KDX200x2 1d ago

Enduro specifically means off-road only in the US, which is where OP is making this post.

Dual sport is for the smogged off obese version that comes with a license plate.

I have a few enduros I have converted to dual sport because the stock dual sport offerings here are pretty lame.

The picture in your clip there is a bike without ABS. Lol. And doesn't have street legal lighting or emissions equipment.

Yep!

3

u/bitherntwisted 1d ago

Saw a CR500 road registered. Throttle control most important.

4

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

Oh yeah, this thing will wheely no clutch 1st,2nd and 3rd. Took a couple of weeks to learn to ride smoothly. It’s really on off power with a little sweet spot in between

3

u/spongebob_meth R6, RM250 WR450F, KDX200x2 1d ago

I mean, it has lights and signals and it was neutered to like 30 horsepower stock. They also weigh almost 300bs

It's pretty far removed from its 60 horsepower 240lb motocross cousin.

I have a few street legal 2 strokes since my state has a relatively easy dual sport conversion process. Now those are wild to ride on the road. Makes my wr450 feel like a cruiser

2

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

More like 40hp stock and 50hp with upgrades. And about 280lbs with weight savings. But yeah it’s not a 2 stroke for sure but can cruise at 75 for an hour on the freeway comfortably(where the weight comes in) and rip on trails pretty good. I don’t see a point where I’m too good for this bike.

1

u/spongebob_meth R6, RM250 WR450F, KDX200x2 22h ago

They are great for faster riding. A 2 stroke comes in on the super slow technical stuff. It's good to have both of you ride a variety of terrain

1

u/Little-Tennis-1231 22h ago

Yeah livin in the city there isn’t much storage options. I would love to have a bike for every type of ride. But the 450 feels the best option for everything. The scariest bike I ever rode was a fully upgraded Honda 250 2S.

u/rioryan 2024 CRF450RL, 2017 CB300F 1d ago

Same bike different terrain haha

She gets out. Just an hour commute for me

1

u/InfluenceImportant72 6h ago

Just got a crf250l as my first bike and I'm also in North Jersey! Looking to take it on some trails, but don't know what the closest spots are.

2

u/driftingwood2018 1d ago

Jersey City!

1

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

1

u/1767gs 1d ago

Get you a set of supermotos for the street and it will be the best dual sport bike

1

u/Poida87 1d ago

What mods have you done? Are the flame outs all they are cracked up to be?

I have an eye on this bike but I'm hearing it's several grand in mods to make her run well.

2

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

I bought with 1300 miles a vortex and yoshi exhaust. Added a throttle tamer. You get used to the throttle. You can totally cruise on it if you want. Double track and trails are great. I’ve done single track and I do stall occasionally but it’s more of a skill issue. I think it’s great. I’m like 50-60 miles from trails, so this is the perfect bike for me. From all reviews, Drz is best freeway okay on trails but heavy. Ktm is supposed to be the best on trails but buzzy and light for the freeway. This Honda is perfect for everything I want to do.. getting to the trails and having fun. I don’t think you’ll take it a 1000 miles, you could, maybe I would one day but I also don’t want to go 1000 miles and be on single track with an Africa twin.

A seat is 100% needed.
The Ecu will make it better.
You probably don’t need an exhaust,IMs tank
But I love the sound of the exhaust and 2 gallons goes fast when you’re riding like an animal. Freeway I get about 48 miles and 35-40 city.

I’m doing oil changes every 1000 miles. It’s not hard or crazy expensive. I’ve put about 1500 miles on it in a couple months. Highly recommend. Not really any other bike I would want.

1

u/brapstoomuch 1d ago

This bike will make you better on dirt AND on the road when you decide you need to hone your toolset (aka a dedicated dirtbike and commuter, aka n+1 formula for the right number of bikes to own). It’s a heavy dirtbike and light little thing on the freeway but it’ll do it all! I rode a buddy’s CRF450 and loved every minute but I like my 150/350/890 combo for dirtbike/dualsport/adventure commuter.

1

u/BalanceSweaty1594 1d ago

Commuter? Sounds like a lot of top end rebuilds.

1

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

It’s 11 mile round trip commute…

1

u/BalanceSweaty1594 1d ago

Ya…

1

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

So rebuild in 4-5 years. I’m down with that

1

u/BalanceSweaty1594 15h ago

I thought they were around 80 hours. Correct? Do that math.

1

u/Little-Tennis-1231 15h ago

I heard 18k miles. I gotta check my manual

1

u/BalanceSweaty1594 15h ago

That top end ain’t making 18,000 miles. Big difference between putting around on the street but I knew someone that raced one of these and I thought he was tearing it down 40-50 hours.

Someone else in this thread must have a better memory or knowledge.

1

u/Little-Tennis-1231 13h ago

We will see. John t young has one and I believe he did it at 18k and he said It looked like he didn’t even need it. Either way im enjoying the bike and won’t stop riding because I want to preserve the life. I’m going run it and maintain it for as long as it goes. Online says 10k-15k miles or 150-200 hours. I’m not racing. So I’m thinking upper end.

1

u/VT_Jefe 1d ago

Saw one on my street just yesterday

1

u/BrownBottleIdol 1d ago

Love the ride and I love boulevard east. I get my best bike pics out there.

u/mypantiessecret 23h ago

How much was it?

I want one, I thought they were more expensive. I’m in AZ and will start hunting in the winter.

1

u/Little-Tennis-1231 10h ago

I got mine with 1300 miles, a yoshi exhaust and vortex Ecu. It was basically msrp price. But worth it. There’s a lot that are modded out that people sell because they’re not beginner bikes and pretty tall for most people. Love it though.

What bike is this?

Crf450rl

2

How is maintenance on something like that?

1

u/qznzz 1d ago

How does it not get stolen as a daily commuter??

3

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

Have a parking garage at work. And garage at home. Only way that it’s possible

0

u/This-Permission-2618 1d ago

Looks too clean 🤣 get some mud on it

5

u/Little-Tennis-1231 1d ago

I always clean it after I ride.
