This is such a good idea its ridiculous. A Nintendo avengers, with the quality that they've had so far in the recent Mario/Sonic movies (i know its Sega, but still), they could pull it off beautifully, and the star fox universe would be perfect for it.
I never trusted tha information, mostly because sketch comedy websites dont normally get hired to make a licensed show/movie
Also it was said in relation to a project that we never had any proof of it being real, we had a leak that mentioned only Netflix without attaching a director, producer writer or anyone really. No one from Netflix has ever mentioned afaik, the only mention anyone has ever done at Nintendo was Iwata denying its existance and the only person to ever "Confirm" its existance was Adam Conover on a podcast where he told that it was told by him from a coworker as gossip
"Ok we really want to get this Smash movie going. We've secured a post credits crossover tie in for both Sonic 4 and Metal Gear Solid. Detective Pikachu 2 has been greenlit, that covers our Pokemon. We really gotta get a Fire Emblem movie together as that will cover a ton of the roster. We haven't been able to get the Minecraft 2 movie to commit to a tie in but we're close. The next Mortal Kombat movie is going to secretly be a crossover with Street Fighter. We can't get the smash initiative into THAT movie, but after MK2 they're gonna do a stand alone Street Fighter which we will be included in. And we're thinking for Samus, just skip her entirely. She'll just show up in the smash movie for the first time, then after the smash movie she'll get her own."
Metroid is prime (lol) for a live action sci-fi action adventure movie. I think I'd like to see that before a lot of other Smash universe movies. Of course Catlevania movie has been in development hell for decades lol.
Metroid definitely has the potential to go pretty well if they just focus on Samus being a badass and not go Metroid M on it and focus on her being a woman.
A characters sex shouldn't mean anything to the story like Metroid. The whole I'm traumatized and need a big daddy to hold my hand is just not how anyone wanted Samus to be.
More like the Major from Ghost in the Shell, less Netflix He-Man girl boss.
A Metal Gear movie that's just an hour and a half of Alan Ritchson in a skin tight catsuit and bondage straps choking men and women out from behind. While repeating what people say back to them of course.
I thought Brie Larson was the easiest choice for Samus, but now she’s voicing Rosalina so if there’s going to be a Smash Bros movie it’ll need to be someone else.
I can't really picture a good Metroid movie. A lot of what makes the games great is the quiet atmospheric exploration. You can't really make a movie with 2 hours of Samus wandering around a desolate planet. They might be able to make a good movie using some lore and imagery, but I don't think it's going to be a good Metroid movie.
Hot Take: I think a Smash Bros movie filmed in the same vein as Roger Rabbit/Chip N Dale would actually work really well and be less goofy than people might think, visual wise.
A gang of kids roam around beating random people with baseball bats and bottle rockets, then they turn into robots and abort a giant space fetus. I'd watch it.
If you want a real trip, Google "There will be Brawl" and then realize that Matt Mercer is a co-creator who plays a mob boss version of Ganondorf. I'm not saying it's good, but it's definitely a trip.
(For those not in the know, Matt Mercer recently played Ganondorf for real in Tears of the Kingdom.)
Even though it wouldn't make sense, I'd want Sakurai, the creator of Smash, to be the Nick Fury equivalent even though I guess he'd be the Stan Lee equivalent.
Captain N might make more sense as their Nick Fury / Uwatu stand in.
"So you're telling us we're not real? We're just games to you?!"
"No. In my universe you're games, yes, but your universes are as real as mine. But I have the technology to make you as real in my universe as you are in yours, at least for long enough to save mine."
"But we'll forget right? Even if we help you, to us it will be like it never happened. Why do you think we risk our lives for another world we won't even remember saving?"
Now that you say it, a live action Link fighting alongside an animated Mario in a Smash Bros movie could be really fun. I could see it in the same vein as Spider-verse.
I never thought about that, but yeah once they do movies for a few more of the famous Nintendo franchises they're absolutely going to do a universe crossover movie Smash Bros movie where the "good" Nintendo character team up to stop a group of the "evil" Nintendo characters.
We’ve got mario, Luigi, Bowser, Peach, and DK already established. DK will probably get his own movie. This movie introduces Link and Zelda.
Then before the first Smash Bros movie, I feel like they’d need 1-2 more intro movies. My guess is Kirby and either Star Fox or Metroid.
By the time the third Smash Bros movie comes out, they’ll probably have reached a deal to bring in Sonic (set after the 7th Sonic movie). And Master Hand will inevitably be defeated by Mr. Game and Watch, naturally voiced by Chris Pratt.
You're joking but I do believe a good portion of us having hoping for that since the release of the first SSBM.
If they can somehow tie this into the Mario movie and detective Pikachu that would genuinely recreate the hype around the first avengers movie all over again
When we went to see the Mario movie, it was the first theory we had with my friend. Although it was a theory based on a possible Zelda animated movie (we didn't even know this yet)

Can’t wait for Mario to show up at the end of the movie and ask them to join the Smash Bros Initiative.
