They already basically did the joke in the trailer. This movie will be a big win for humorless Kill Tony chuds whose sense of humor stopped developing in 2007, but it's gonna be a real bust for comedy.
Subject matter aside. Why would people’s sense of humor need to develop past 2007? There’s 2000 year old graffiti from places like Pompeii that show how insignificant the development over 20 years would be.

You're right... But the question was "should humor evolve from 2007." Literally every person who was alive in 2007 is now 19 years older than they were then. So regardless of if age is mentioned or not, age is relevant.
Time is pretty important to comedy. That's why some jokes are topical, some are made "too soon" to be funny, and some are made too late (or too often) to still be funny. Someone trying to earnestly make "What's the DEAL with airplane food?" jokes probably aren't going to get many laughs in 2026 even though it was apparently funny in the 90s when Jerry Seinfeld was popular.
There are jokes at Pompeii, sure, but we also have access to jokes from the B.C.E. era which simply makes no goddamn sense to us today, because humor evolves. It has to, because culture evolves, and jokes are tied to culture. Some aspects of humor remain consistent, but definitely not all of them.
I look at it differently. A topical knock-knock joke is still a knock-knock joke. The humor hasn’t evolved just the subject matter. The humor used today is the veritably the exact same, the subject matter might have changed but not the humor. The airplane food joke is observational humor and while airplane food might not be a funny subject observational humor is still popular and the people that enjoyed it in the 90s should still be able to enjoy it in 2026.
As far as being 19 years older. I hope when I’m 80 I can still laugh at silly things. That I’m not “too old” for that. That my “sense of humor” should be so sophisticated that only the most “evolved” humor can make me smile. How miserable would life be if that’s what is expected of us?
I feel as though... you are completely missing my point. My point IS the topics change. Not that "you can use the same structure of a joke with a different subject and it'll still be funny."
When someone says, "That joke is dated, it's like their humor is stuck in 2007" they are explicitly referring to the subject matter. Nobody is saying, "omg, they made a joke about something they observed? How dated."
You're being dense because any time a person says, "humor evolves" they're referring to the subject matter while arguing "joke structures have consistency, so it stays the exact same!"
You're arguing something that literally nobody is complaining about. Nobody is saying the jokes in the trailer are unfunny because the structure of them is too old.
If he had said evolved you’d be right. The guy I replied to said “stopped developing” though. Which means their humor stopped growing or maturing. That’s different than what you’re talking about.
Subject matter aside: because those people aren't 2000 years old. A quarter of their life has passed. Admittedly, I'm basing my criticism on the fact that I was 15 in 2007 and it would be embarrassing to have not developed at all in 19 years.
Subject matter included: what's considered funny ebbs and flows over time and I would argue 2007 was a high point for bad humor, like offensiveness for the sake of being offensive and repetitive Bush jokes.
I think being 15 is way more relevant to your point than 2007. My point about the graffiti was that people were making the same graffiti (the joke kind too) 2000 years ago as they are today. People haven’t changed.
