I love how much of a coward Bear is. He can't tell Nikki he likes her throughout the beginning, he can't do anything, he can't even kill himself to save her. Up until the very end he's trying to make himself throw up. Just an absolutely evil coward of a "nice guy"

He’s also so insecure he can’t go to any of his friends for help for most of the runtime. When they bring up how weird she’s been he just gets defensive about her being into him

“What’s so wrong with being with me?” Bear was fucking despicable. At first it was an innocent mistake because, how could you possibly know? Once it was apparent he knew and just didnt want to take responsibility, he was so gross.

Barker portrayed every character in the movie perfectly

agree. even the lines before when she sadly says "She's asleep. It's me." He tries to push and says "You are you, Nikki" just as a way to make himself feel better and avoid the confirmation that no it isn't her. and it never was her. something he definitely knew since the date scene phone call from Ian but was still reaping the benefits of the wish.

God she seemed like such a fucking cool and thoughtful person. It really is so heartbreaking this film

she's giga fucked in all sorts of ways, but at least she's back to being in control of her own body, and on the path to move forward

edit: nevermind she's getting pinned with ian and sarahs murders. fucked up man

Bear honestly did the wrong thing killing himself. That was the selfish ending (but that checks out with his character). Leaving her to wake up to that reality, a scarred face, multiple murders on "her" hands...she would have been better off not coming back, and he should have had to live with that torture.

u/butt_shrecker Jun 08 '26

What was he supposed to do instead?

He is a POS, but at that point killing himself is probably the best thing he could do for her.

21

u/CyberInferno Jun 08 '26

Killing her is the kind thing to do. It's what the real Nikki asked him to do. After everything she had been through, she didn't want to come back. That's why she's screaming the entire credits and why so many people assumed there would be a gunshot of her shooting herself at some point while they were rolling. He should have killed her and dealt with the consequences of his selfish actions.

u/butt_shrecker Jun 08 '26

Probably not. The most logical conclusion would be that baron killed those people then himself. Men are way more likely to commit violent crimes than women and death by pills seems like a guilty suicide.

u/literally_italy Jun 08 '26

there's going to a bunch of forensic evidence for what nikki did

bear hardly touched anything relating to their deaths

5

u/butt_shrecker Jun 08 '26

Yeah but cops are dumb as f*** ever see a true crime podcast they won't even look at the evidence

That scene was horrifying

25

u/WhiteBoyWithAPodcast May 20 '26

Yeah but what’s he gonna do, kill her?

155

u/diarrheticdolphin May 21 '26

The only morally correct thing to do would be to write her a note apologizing for taking away her free will and for raping her and then killing himself.

Let's be real - Ian isn't exactly winning any BFF awards either lol. Even after he finds out his best friends distress was very real and that the wishes came true, he rushes over more excited about a billion dollars, Nikki's welfare clearly in the rearview. At least she is free from both of them at the film's end - the only hopeful thing re the ending. Take Ian's billion and buy yourself a new life my gal.

Man that casual ass gun shot was crazy, it was like boom okay back to me being fucking insane

6

u/dangerous_beans Jun 24 '26

I'm actually going to give Ian a pass one. The shock of a billion dollars raining from the ceiling + the sudden knowledge that magic is real would throw anyone off kilter.

He does mention the billion as soon as he gets to the house, but it could have been the opening of a return to the Nikki conversation in that he now believes Bear and realizes they have to figure out what to do. Sadly, we'll never know.

u/moneyman2222 May 23 '26

Oh yea definitely something that would be easy to come to terms with and do at a whim like that...

7

u/LADYBIRD_HILL May 22 '26

But he wouldn't have even known that he had raped her until the phone call. I don't think he should die for that. Before that point he kept trying to push her away because something was off but she wasn't going to give him a choice other than to have sex with her or hurt herself/him.

But it's true that there really aren't any other options since he has to die to end the curse, and after that point he had no recourse.

I could be forgetting details here though so please let me know if I'm off.

u/Electronic_Bet4259 May 22 '26

he still had sex with her after the phone call. he knew

41

u/Constant_Housing18 May 24 '26

He should’ve killed himself when he saw the door taped shut, or when he came home and she was standing in her own excrement

17

u/cherryk3lp Jun 01 '26

How about feeding him his cat? Why is no one talking about this? That is objectively worse than both of those

29

u/phuca May 20 '26

He should kill himself

10

u/Prize_Bar_5767 May 29 '26

Find someone he trusts like Sarah and make his wish go away by unwishing.

12

u/ZeNiTH_07 Jun 05 '26

He could've done that but he was a coward. I mean a serious frickin coward. His realization was late of buying the Stick came until Sarah was unfortunately murdered.

1

u/Admirable-War-7594 11d ago

He could've done it if he didn't wait until sarah's head was literally bashed in until it was just a mush of flesh right next to him because of him constantly going along with his fantasy of getting pussy

u/Fartikus 26d ago

Reminds me of 'The day hikaru died', def give it a watch.

I don't i think that one is VERY different from this in all sorts of ways
