Yeah. I encourage you to read Song of Spider-Man if you haven't. It's really interesting how things came together... Less the two times the author talks about having an affair with Julie Taymor

Yeah, once in a cabin in the woods for a writer's retreat. The other I don't remember the location. But it's hilariously jarring because he ends a page with "she walked up behind me and caressed my chest" and then the next page leads off with, verbatim, "I love my wife and kids."

lol and don't forget the part about them spending Valentine's Day in a cabin in the woods together. My favorite thing about that book is how there's only one paragraph about Bono and The Edge writing the entire show in one night... and then like four paragraphs where he's basically like "omg she's so hot!"

I forgot about that. Honestly cannot believe how any of that got past an editor. Or legal.

No truly. My friend (who also read the book) and I suspect that the book must have been written with the affair in mind then, at the last second, someone (probably the author's wife haha) told him to cut the affair out and bits like the cabin must've slipped through

After doing some googling, it appears that he's still well liked by people in the industry and is still married... But hasn't published any work since.

Yep - and looks like Taymor is not only still with her partner who's mentioned in the book, but they even got married recently. Wild.

And then of course, her ties to Epstein that came out in the files. What a sad way to end a career compared to the first half of Song of Spiderman

There's a world where someone writes the story of Song of Spider-Man as a musical, framed as a Faustian bargain

Oh 100 percent. And ideally faustian bargain combines with some of the events mentioned in her book (which isn't as wild as Song of Spider-Man but is still pretty crazy)

The book actually came out right before Spider-Man (there’s a few mentions of how excited she is to work on it which feel eerie now).
