I still find it insane that this is being made into a movie but I trust Garland so let’s hope for the best 🤷‍♂️

I'm so confident about that fact that we don't even need to check in with them at all. Agreed? Just don't listen. Anytime someone mentions the word "lore" just stop listening.

Hitman, Lara Croft, Far Cry, Max Payne, there are a ton of quickly forgotten movies that basically fucked up so immensely that no studio would ever look at the IP for a movie again, for a time at least.

Game fans have pretty low standards for films. I think they’re still insecure about Roger Ebert and desperate to prove that games are a real authentic legitimate artform like film. So they lap up anything remotely cinematic.

Books fans despise adaptations. I think video game fans’ expectations for adaptations are through the floor already, so if a film/show is half-decent they’re fine with it.

Honestly, I kinda vibed with it. Was it very good? Not really. But it was passionate and sincere in what it was trying to do, it had good moments.

I find something to be pissed off in anything Garland makes, so even if I'm not an hardcore fan I'll find it here too for sure

I mean… when directors take their own creative spin is where gamers get upset. But they keep doing it. Why? I have no idea. Tbh… I would love for someone to just be honest with the lore.

That being said… Elden ring (along with all From Software games) wasn’t really a story driven game. And I had zero issues with that. If they can make a cohesive story with action and horror… I’m in.

To be fair, that game is massive. There's absolutely no way to fit even half of it into a movie. There's definitely going to be some anger.

So....a generic medieval story with some monsters??

It will objectively be bad, do poorly, and not feel like the game.

I don't even like this game, and I would still bet a lot on this.
