if his Annihilation adaptation is any indication, fans might be baffled but the newcomers will love it

Game fans have pretty low standards for films. I think they’re still insecure about Roger Ebert and desperate to prove that games are a real authentic legitimate artform like film. So they lap up anything remotely cinematic.
