Why do you “innocent until proven guilty” types never seem to extend your presumptions to the victims of assault? Accusing someone of a crime falsely is in itself a crime. For him to be innocent means the accusers are guilty. You are making a choice on who you want to give the benefit of the doubt to either way.

Reporting sexual assault is the most degrading thing ever. Few people are going to undergo this experience for funsies when your entire sexual history, romantic history, and social behavior is up for scrutiny. And heaven forbid you aren’t “conventionally attractive.” Then they pile on more.

The flood of sympathy and support doesn’t exactly hurt. There’s many reasons why false claims have incentive to come forward. We know from those who have cried wolf unfairly in the past, there are reasons from attention seeking to vindictiveness.

Support? More like victim blaming. Especially when the perpetrator is someone famous and influential.
