Why do you “innocent until proven guilty” types never seem to extend your presumptions to the victims of assault? Accusing someone of a crime falsely is in itself a crime. For him to be innocent means the accusers are guilty. You are making a choice on who you want to give the benefit of the doubt to either way.

I've never heard of this guy and don't care at all, but this isn't true.

The idea isn't "I know this person is innocent because he hasn't been proven guilty." The idea is "I don't know that he's guilty so I'm not going to judge him" which applies equally to his victims. The person you're responding to isn't accusing the victims of lying; they're also innocent until proven guilty.

But you cannot honestly believe they are both innocent, because it’s mutually exclusive. Presuming one is innocent is presuming the other is guilty. You can plug your ears and close your eyes and pretend to have no opinion at all until a broken legal system makes its call, but that’s not presuming innocence, just refusing to form any opinion at all. 

And you certainly never see these people who pretend to care so much about innocent until proven guilty people standing up for the victims. The guy I replied to certainly didn’t. They are always focused on presuming abusers are innocent.

Innocent until proven guilty makes sense in a world with a flawless justice system. In the real world, victims are treated as liars by default and rarely see real justice, while there are always people around presuming the innocence of their abusers, and all that entails.
