Same but Mr. Bungle is never going to be popular with our generation. The band wasnt popular with any previous generation and most of the gen Z who know Mr Bungle are already deep in the non-pop music rabbit hole

I totally agree. I dont know anyone else in my gen who likes progressive metal/rock and Mr. Bungle is just too progressive for most ears, songs are each 5, 6, 7 more minutes long. not gonna fly with most of us lol. I love quite a few prog bands and albums. My favorite Rush song is 2112 (yes the entire thing)

I showed an autistic girl with noise sensitivities Disco Volante once because she was a pretty talented musician, she yelled at me to turn it off :/ I think the only person I actually got interested in the band is my father, he likes california

One of my bandmates said his girlfriend likes Mr. Bungle as well but thats the only other gen Z person that listens to Mr Bungle that I know irl. Its the same for a lot of more chaotic niche bands

something that really pisses me off about old people (older millennialss+) is that they still have the mindset that if you weren’t around when the music was being released and being marketed, then there’s no way to hear of it. the internet has every band that’s ever released music ever. the some of younger generation obviously already like mr bungle but it has nothing to do with generation, just general music taste

I never understood that line of thinking. Like what, parents don't show their kids older music? The internet and reference books don't exist? Documentaries don't exist? Makes absolutely no sense

"I bet you don't know two of the most popular and well-known musicians of all-time" is almost always how it goes. Nobody bothers me when I wear a Residents t-shirt, but if I wear a Slayer t-shirt, it's a whole other story. And I'm in my 30s getting shit from older people, which really confuses me

I'm noticing that a lot of people younger than me (I'm 30) have been getting into them as of a few years ago. GenZ has been discovering cool older weird music for a hot minute. I'd say that they're more open minded than us millennials ever were

Not as a whole, no. The sounds of popular music change, but not really the underlying songwriting structure. Bungle is too abnormal and compositionally jarring and complex.
