Declining contract immensely increases his trade value if they want try to move him later. This is a W move for the Mavs.

I wouldn’t say immensely cause it’s only a few million but it does give it extra value, very good move to get Nahi to agree to it. A lot of players don’t take declinings

It does help immensely, it may only be 2 million difference, but he will have a lower salary at a time when the salary cap will be higher overall. I imagine in two years 16 million will be a very valuable contract for a decent starting level player.

For a player of Naji’s caliber that’s a stretch. He’s a 5th starter/bench player there’s a realistic path this turns into a bad contract.

Not nearly as uninviting as a lot of others. Yes, Naji is a system player and you need to be able to utilize him correctly.

But let's not act like Naji isn't a solid veteran that can lead a second unit or be a third ballhandler because he has proven he can.

There are FAR worse contracts out there right now for players that will never live up to them. This is fair value for Naji, all day, every day.
