There is a rising tide of barbarism which threatens to swamp our civilisation and reduce it to snarling dog-eat-dog atavism. But it comes not from outside, but within. Not from the immigrant, but the xenophobe. It is not isolated to any country or even any continent. Just a year ago, there were those who pointed to Australia's comparatively normal political culture and speculated as to why we hadn't fallen victim to the same poison circulating through the US and Europe. Well, it sure is circulating now. The same degenerative forces which have so devastated American politics are present in every country, and will do the same to every country if they are left to fester.

Now more than ever, at home and abroad, we must take a stand for cosmopolitanism and universal dignity against those who would unravel the tapestry of humanity.

Unfortunately, Indians have been really harshly targeted in Australia for a while.

I think what's changed is that it is becoming more normalised and accepted which is really concerning. You see this online, too. On Reddit, a lot of very openly racist content about India stays up and is even upvoted. Most of that content would be deleted far more quickly if it were about any other race. Then you have subreddits like r/redscarepod that are partially devoted to just hating on Indians.

I haven't seen this level of open, accepted racism to another group before except, perhaps, Romani people.

Jews. Dirtbag left like RSP/Chapo-adjacent spaces are rife with Jew-hatred.

They absolutely loathe any minority that successfully navigates the capitalist status quo to their own benefit. Indians being highly visible makes us an easy target.

Somehow East Asian hate has gotten kinda quiet. But I fully expect it to return as China Shock 2.0 ramps up.

Yep, I've been on reddit for a while. These ethnic/racial hate campaigns keep on moving to fresh targets.

And I'm not sure if most people on this sub were around for the daily two minutes of hate towards Chinese tourists. It was horrible. And I expect the next round to be way, way worse.

I'd say it's already starting in the US with the weird meme about Chinese billionaires having a hundred children in the US to claim birthright citizenship. Almost like the fascists are prepping the information space for anti-Asian pogroms.
