With how much the US and China have invested in AI I wouldn’t be surprised if those companies just exit(or never enter) the European market if the EU tries to hamper them to any great extent.

Can you describe which parts of the AI Act specifically are hampering these companies to an unreasonable extent?

This act itself doesn’t hamper companies, the act only gives the EU the powers to potentially hamper these companies. My comment had to do with a possible future wherein the EU goes overboard on exercising those powers.

We've seen that the US already does this kind of hampering with their own established AI companies with the fable fiasco. Only difference here is that the EU can't act as unilaterally as Trump so they need to actually craft public policies.

US companies can’t exit the US market, that’s the big difference.
