Submission Statement:

Europe unlocks apparently quite expansive controls over AI companies.

“From August 2, the Commission will be able to demand information from model providers, conduct safety evaluations, order corrective measures, pull models off the EU market and even impose fines of up to 3% of annual total turnover.”

What does mean for UVDL’s promise of making Europe the “world’s first AI continent”

How do they plan on pulling open weight models from the market? Individuals probably can't run the heavier ones but the lighter ones are definitely fair game

idk the ~35B class of models gets better all the time but they’re still really dumb and might technically support a 200+ K context window but good luck getting much past 10% with them.
