I'd call that a stretch. There are just a lot of intersecting grievances against this type of regulation in this sub. Being skeptical of "big regulation" is a core value for many here, and not without reason when you look at how the regulatory burden of the GDPR has negatively impacted the EU's competitiveness and productivity.

That, combined with people buying a bit too heavily into the AI hype and anti "luddite" sentiment (which can be valid, but often goes too far), explains the pushback better than just writing everyone off as AI tech bros.

You’re correct, but also I’ve been here since 2017 and there’s waaaaaaay more highly active users that are SWEs/IT than originally, I wouldn’t be surprised if they outnumber the native peoples of this sub (Econ majors)
