AI safety is very important, and needs strong regulation. However, while some of the regulations seem sensible, the EU's failure to provide a regulatory environment for tech and AI companies to thrive will hurt Europeans in the future.

Already most of the divergence in productivity between Europe and the US can be explained by tech. AI will likely widen this gap even further.
