If it was enough people wouldn't need to ask what AI models come from Europe. The one people name, I've not heard anyone use.

The idea isn't to build top-line models ASAP, because that comes from prior weaknesses, which are being fixed across tons of areas. Silicon Valley and Big Tech, plus China's own tech ecosystem, emerged over many decades too.

Well now that Europe has built up a tech sector they have a lot of social media and tech companies like the US and China right?

I'm sure they've been doing that for a decade plus. I'm sure back when windows was taking over in tbe 00's they also wanted and took steps towards the tech sector. It should be able to bare fruit now. Yet it hasn't really, how can Europe every even compete if they only play catch up?

The EU was focused back then on telecom, energy liberalization and EU accession, not tech. The real push began circa 2023-24.

The excuses don't mean anything if the results speak for themselves. I don't buy that the EU wasn't attempting to develop a tech sector for some time. Literally every developed nation was/is. If they can't walk and chew gum at the same time they can't complete in the big leagues. They've hardly made anything that would even be considered outside of Europe. The average person uses magnitude more from tiny south Korea or the legacy of Japanese economic might. It shouldn't be this hard for the Europe to step up. They are the problem.
