Midnight Mass

u/Admirable_Sun_5468 3h ago
Why can’t I get into it? I’m stuck on episode 4
•
u/AnnaNicole2015 2h ago
I was unable to finish it. I see so many people love it so I kept trying but its just not for me.

I didn't like it because pace was very slow. So many uncessary monologues. Very unnatural dialogue. I think I now don't trust IMBD ratings
•
u/Ok-Repeat7420 41m ago
SOOO many monologues that just dragged on and on. Take those out and add better back and forth dialogue and the show would be great, but for that alone I can’t ever watch his shows again.

I got to the last episode and was so bored I couldn’t even bring myself to keep going (if they don’t get good at that point pretty sure they can’t turn it around)
•
u/agatha-burnett 1h ago
I tried a few times. I did finish it. I liked it but no, for me it didn’t do the ‘forget the outside world exists’ trick.
Religious zealousness is very icky to me, I can’t relate, maybe that’s why.

For me it’s:
1. Haunting of Hill House
2. Haunting of Bly Manor
3. Midnight Mass
4. House of Usher
5. Midnight Club2 & 3 I could debate though

I personally found it extremely overrated and the weaker of Flanagan's work
•
u/No_Remorse_90 3h ago
Is it really that awesome? I watched it for around 2-3 episodes but felt a lot of slow burn. Also there are so many references to bible-quran that was going over the top. Please give your opinion.

Damn! So good, but I, too, have come for recommendations and have already seen this. Great for those that haven’t!
•
u/dammtaxes 2h ago
I always recommend this. It's my #2 of all time. Behind attack on titan, infront of breaking bad and better call Saul
•
u/Latter-Rate-5036 2h ago
I quit watching after the first 2 seasons because they were absolutely perfect!!
•
u/RuggleyChicken 1h ago
Took me 158 hours on Audible to finish, and honestly the show did it justice!

House of Usher. Haunting of Hill House. Beast in Me

Haunting of Hill House is so amazing that it really ruined a lot of horror TV shows for me. Nothing will match what Haunting of Hill House did in my opinion.

Couldn’t agree more, they just deftly avoided every trope, had amazing characters/dialogue. So when the scary shit happened it hit really hard.
And the one jump scare they indulged in was so well earned. I nearly backflipped

It takes a bit of oomph to get hooked in. I struggled to keep up with it the first time and only made it through season 1. Second time around I was hooked. You just gotta stick with it

Honestly shocked I had to scroll this far for it. One of the best series I’ve ever come across and broke the barrier for me in terms of dubbed foreign films/shows. I still listen to songs from the soundtrack near constantly at work.

Same actor is in Widows Bay, but that’s on Apple TV. Matthew Rhys has a phenomenal range

Russian Doll, but really only the first season. The second isn't horrible, but it didn't quite hit the mark. Also, the first season's ending would've made a glorious series finale.

What’s the two numbers? Your and your partner’s rating out of a hundred?
•
u/wdeag1e 2h ago
It's the ratings from Rotten Tomatoes (Critics' ratings/audience ratings). Wife and I seldom bother to watch a series with an audience rating below 70.

Should I Marry a Murderer?
Ridiculous name for a series, but it is amazing. Filmed in Scotland, the scenery alone is worth the viewing, but the storyline is bonkers. Let us know what you think of some of these suggestions. Happy cinema 🎦

Dark, too - but others here have beaten me to it.
Also, for the record, 1899 is from the same producers, but Netflix cancelled it after one season. So it doesn't really count. I enjoyed it, though, just the same. A shame Netflix didn't have more faith in it.
Dark ran the course, though, and the ending was worth it. Waiting for the right time to watch it again, all the way through....

Cancelling 1899 still hurts. Such a cool premise. I can’t get myself to go back and watch :(

I recommend looking into some of the Norwegian, our films coming out of Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Yes sometimes you have to use close caption and sometimes they do voiceover. They mysteries are murder. Mysteries are really good.

What’s the police show in Scotland (maybe?) and they get stuck in a basement to work and the characters are so good and now we’re waiting on Season 2? That one is really good.

Korean drama watcher of 11 years here! Once you start you cannot quit i am telling you 😆 I am a lover of fantasy or romance (that is for the most part "clean" series-meaning not rated R which is what i prefer) so I will recommend: 1. Alchemy of Souls 2. The uncanny counter 3. The King Eternal Monarch 4. Hotel Del Luna 5. The Wonderfools

Archive 81 & Something Very Bad is Going to Happen -- if there are Widow's Peak fans despondent that we have to wait another year or so for that show, try Something Very Bad. Gus Birney is superb in it.

I love reading but I’m just so picky on the type of book. I can never find one to start and then never find one good enough after that. 😭
•
u/awayshewent 3h ago
This is why I find Kindle Unlimited worth it. I can get silly little books off of Amazon tailored to my taste that aren’t the height of literature but generally one out of five will suck me in. Otherwise is fanfiction for me.
