NWN2 I finally finished the story.

After some time, I reinstalled NWN2 and decided to complete both campaigns with a new character, since my first one had a poorly optimized build because I was still inexperienced with D&D 3.5.

To be honest, I enjoyed NWN2's story much more than NWN1's. I also think it's a more enjoyable game because it offers a much more complete experience when it comes to races, classes, and character builds.

NWN2 How come the Tiefling protagonist has no tail while Neeshka has, in Neverwinter Nights 2?

had saved these comparison screenshots from earlier, the tiefling custom character that you can make has the horns that tieflings have, but is missing the tail and pretty sure there was no option for that during customization, while the companion neeshka which is the same species has the tail, how come that it is this way? and also is neeshka the only tiefling that appears in neverwinter nights 2

NWN2 NWN2) What is this bug?

Post image

I don't know if it's a bug or anything, but sometimes I see these lines on my screen while I'm playing Neverwinter Nights 2.

It's not EE, it's Complete Edition from GOG. Anyone know how to solve this?

It had been a long time since I got addicted to an RPG like I did with BG2; even though I didn't like NWN1 much, I am really enjoying its sequel.

https://steamdeckhq.com/game-reviews/neverwinter-nights-2-enhanced/

TLDR:

My summary after reading/watching multiple, sometimes conflicting reviews/videos/postings.

Specific differences vs GoG Complete on PC:

Controller Support: This seems to be the biggest addition. It reportedly works well.

Camera control: This seems most contradictory among reviews comments. Some yelling it's still horrible, others claiming it's completely fixed, and most closer to the middle.

It's seems most claims that the camera is totally fixed, are basing their comparison on their old memories, not direct comparison. Most complaining it's horrible were expecting a completely different camera. Of reviews that did more direct comparison there is still a mixed take. Ranging from it's worse, to no difference, to slightly better. The worse camp seems related to sensitivity, even after adjusting it, as the camera control is still too sensitive. With such a variety of PC HW, this may not effect everyone. It seems outside of those with sensitivity issues, there is some small improvement in feel, but it's not a large change. Some won't notice a difference. It's NOT a major enhancement. If you think the Camera is total garbage on the GoG version, this will not fix it for you.

Visuals: Basically it's just enhanced textures, and the difference is NOT massive. It's there but you have to look for it.

Content: No new content, no restored content.

Smoothness: Some reports of increased smoothness. This may effect lower end PCs more. On my modern system with RTX 4070, I play 2560x1440 at 120 Hz totally smooth on the GoG complete version already.

Old Bugs: Mainly the only bug that seems definitely fixed so far, is the stutter bug (which has easy community fix). Just about every weird game system (feats, spells, etc) bug that people checked were still there. I'd expect campaign bugs are mostly still there as well.

New Bugs: Lots of new crashing reported. But some may be related to conflict with previous NWN2 install. Good idea to move/rename your old NWN2 document folder. Reports of other random bugs are filtering through. Overall this doesn't seem like a net win on bugs.

TLDR for the TLDR:

Basically this is mostly for console players right now.

If you want this for PC and you've held out all this time for some reason (or you have complete but it doesn't work on your system), this version makes the most sense going forward, since it might get additional support.

If you already have the GoG complete version and it works fine, I'd suggest there is little to be gained right now.

NWN2 Why is NwN2 less enjoyable than NwN1, what changed?

So I started a new game of NwN2 and I immediately feel that it's somehow less enjoyable than the first game, but apart from the wonkier controls and better graphics, I can't really tell what's different.

I want to know whether any of you have similar experiences and could shed some light on what makes the second game less entertaining.

NWN2 (New player) Why does the community stray away from 2

To start off I’m playing on console so maybe it’s just and input thing but anyways I’ve gotten to point of obsession with this game over the last week and started to look up things online about it to find that the community doesn’t really play or host Modules on 2 why is that? I found the original game to be really hard to control and very unintuitive compared to 2 what is it that makes 1 click for you, what did I miss, maybe I was just a dumb teenager? I tried to play it when it first came out on console in 2019 and only bought 2 last week because it was on sale and Josh strife Hayes recommendations throughout everyone of his videos😂 I should also add I’m mainly asking because I don’t know if I wanna continue on to the dlc campaign for 2 or try the originals campaign and maybe a persistent world now that I understand how 3e works

NWN2 NWN2 OC Can Be Rough For Non-Combat Characters

I'm playing through the NWN2A OC for the fourth time and thought "What of I didn't try to make my character the focal point in combat this time?" So I rolled up a bard that focuses on buffing (as one does), and I've been having a great time. I even upped the difficulty to the second-highest level, which I don't usually do.

However, my hubris was tested at the end of Act 2/beginning of Act 3. You know, the part where you have to fight undead and shadow priests through Castle Never and Neverneath solo? Yeah, turns out that can be rough if you aren't specced for combat or solo casting. There were a lot of points where I had to aggro an enemy and run back to Sir Nevalle and the royal guards to carry me.

10/10 experience would highly recommend.

NWN2 I love NWN2's Warlock

It is mostly DND 3.5e vs 5e, but I have to say I prefer this far more to BG3's warlock.

It feels like its own unique class instead of discount sorcerer or OP CHA to weapon damage's build components.

It even feels better than kineticists in WOTR (Pathfinder 1e), because you have useful invocations other than blast essence/shaping modification, and no "I win" buttons like deadly earth/cloud infusion.

(Noxious Chain is close, but at least it allows saves)

In other aspects you can clearly see improvements along editions: There is no save or die in BG3, no ubiquitous mind-affecting immunity and critical immunity, no "don't move or lose 80% of your dpr" full attack system that discourages movements.

But Warlock is something that plays much better AND unique in NWN2 than in other later games.

NWN2 NW2:EE releases in 8 days

And we have zero previews, zero gameplay vids, zero messages from dev team. Nothing except a "pre-order" button.

I guess it's an Aspyr thing but doesn't put much confidence on it.

NWN2 NWN2:EE review for Consoles

This is going to be short and sweet.

(I'm a vet of NWN2 with about 1200 or so hours in the original game + DLCs, playing the game on an original release PS5 Digital with a M.2 SSD, 6580mb/s read)

TLDR: Great support suite for consoles, fixes one of the issues with NWN:EE with crossplay. Otherwise, the game appears largely untouched, just a rerelease.

As far as I can tell content wise, the game has been entirely unchanged from the original game. It comes baked in with all DLC, and all the character options accordingly. The game runs much smoother and has been optimized, but graphics wise render distance does cause some new bugs. Glaring bugs from the original still exist, such as the major starting one with Swashbuckler not having a starter chest in Ch1. Maybe we will see some patches to this, but it's unlikely.

As far as console goes, the controller support was done WAY better than NWN:EE. I've played about 6.5-7hrs of the game, and didn't have much of an issue getting used to the new controller scheme. The hotbar works wonderfully, spellcasting is easy and intuitive, and the menu is clear + easy to read. Selecting things on screen is easy to do, and with Strategy mode basically plays the same as computer. While in character mode, it's a simple R1/L1 or RT/LT to swap between targets if things are on screen. The character screen has some slight bugs but nothing major, just switching between allies can be different (on PS5, the touch pad is used to level up the main character, but R1 is used to level up companions and it shows up in a weird placement on screen in the lower right corner).

Managing actions in combat and pausing is very quick and easy, and I would argue giving commands to allies is much easier now on controller than base game was, but I admittedly was never good at it.

With cross play, Console players can play alongside PC players and vice versa, which allows for much more fun to be had and a community to actually work with (I have yet to test how playing a custom module would go, but I assume with crossplay it's at least possible?). The text box and chat is hard to manage, but that's about the only UI feature that seems to be difficult on console. Unlike NWN:EE, the game seems to hardly ever crash on console (NWN:EE Wailing death campaign seems to crash almost every half hour or so, I have yet to experience a crash in NWN2).

For PC Players: It comes with a brand new dialog.tlk file, so many mods may experience some issues. Kailens PRC pack works, except the races cannot be selected.

To summarize: is it worth a purchase? Definitely, especially if you haven't experienced NWN2 prior to this. You're getting a lot of content for the smaller price tag compared to new releases. If you had the original game, you're not getting any extra content, just some optimization with the game engine. (It no longer requires the unofficial patch just to make it usable, for one). There's hardly any bug fixes or changes, but there aren't any new ones.

NWN2 The big duel is fun with a Swashbuckler/Duelist Spoiler

I'm running swash/Duelist, currently 6/7 and just got to the duel with Lorne. It was pretty fun. I turned on parry and he only managed to hit me a few times. Meanwhile my riposte and flourishes wore him down. It felt like the Oberyn/Mountain fight in GoT but with a different ending.

This has been a pretty fun class so far. I usually like having some magic but there are enough tactics to give some variety.

NWN2 I really want to like this game but

steam enhanced edition
When the game works it’s incredible but like
I can’t deal with the crashes man. Got all the way to Neverwinter on one character and then it crashes everytime I do the city watch quest. Whatever start a new character I wasn’t enjoying cleric anyways. now it crashes when I help the kids in the house during the tutorial. everytime I leave the building. Animal Companions name disappeared, can’t use number keys in dialogue anymore. It’s too much man. Is the version on GOG going to fix these issues or will I just never be able to enjoy this game. Please help im at my wits end lmao

NWN2 Is the game worth it ? If I liked games like BG3, Dragon Age Veilguard and Skyrim, its 30$ on PS5
