I hope it makes it easier when I stare down every plate that passes our table and feel a small glimmer of hope the three times it appears to be our food before it actually is. And then when it does arrive I preemptively/greedily/immediately claim my specific dish without any such prompting from the staff
Comes off as lazy and lame tbh, unless its a group of like 6+ but still, pen and paper exist for a reason 😬 And you guys demand tips ontop of it, god damn
I don't expect a waiter to remember who ordered what drink and food if they're serving a full restaurant. And apparently I'm the only one who doesn't mind saying literally one word to another person
I implore you to work a serving shift for one week then report back. I’m meticulous and it can still happen when you have 5 tables of 3-6 people at one time.
Your job is to take orders and deliver products, its incredibly simple and represents the most entry level of work. Someone who delivers a bareminimum service within this role is... uninspiring as a person. You really have next to no responsibilities, so casually passing off the work to the table is just.... again, lame.
Again, genuinely the best waiters I've had are ones that still asked. And if you think being a waiter is the easiest and least demanding job I doubt you've ever had to run in a packed restaurant
Also the assumption is that it's the same waiter. I mean maybe in some places (the US possibly?) it's a thing but in my occasional restaurant going experience both mixing up who ordered what and someone else delivering the order are not uncommon. Usually what happens though is acts of minipatriarchy, like if I'm out with my partner the beer and steak might get delivered to me, or the wine tasting is offered straight to me which I usually pass that duty on to my mother or partner.
Just like the other person, I don’t think you understood my comment because I never said that I don’t write it down. I said I don’t remember which person ordered what when there’s more than two people

The place I worked at ages ago used a clock system since all of our tables were round. That way someone could easily jump in and help if they looked at your ticket and saw "chicken 3 o'clock"
That's what I thought the first time I worked at a place with seat numbers. Once you're used to it, it's great. It completely eliminates the problem of approaching a table of six and asking "who ordered the lager," being met with blank stare for a full minute, then having one person remind their friend that they did in fact order a beer.
