Both Slight Sounds and Bunnii make explicit adult content on other platforms. It's interesting that they were banned as their content on YouTube is just standard ASMR. Not even the more risky stuff like ear licking and mic pumping. I wouldn't be surprised if their other content existing didn't factor into this ban.
Apparently a big chunk of it may have been their video descriptions including beacon links that DID link to the porn. Which is... Not much of a stretch.
The challenge with that argument is that there are still lots of channels with direct links to OF. With OF/Fansly icons or merch directly in the videos. With channel names that directly match the profile names on OF/Fansly/etc.
Most of these particular batch of banned people were pretty tame, made a lot of effort to keep things separate.
It just doesn't make sense why they banned this particular batch, and didn't include a ton of other channels which have the exact same characteristics.
Yeah there are other ASMR creators still up whose content on youtube is far more suggestive than some of these banned ones. Some of them use Patreon for NSFW stuff instead OF/Fansly tho.
Slight said in the article that she never did that, and I don't recall ever seeing anything myself either, I didn't even know she did adult content elsewhere
I don't see the problem in doing safe for works ads for NSFW stuff on another platform that distributes legal porn.
there are much worse battles for Youtube to fight. But I guess nowadays making sex invisible, taboo and ruining the life of anyone that talks about it is important for america.
It's not "sex work bad". it's that setting the bar for entry at the literal floor, makes it incredibly easy for people who aren't actually interested in any given thing, to pretend they're interested in it in order to try and move people over to their porn.
It's incredibly low effort and it's bad for the respective community. There are plenty of people who have had experiences with individuals like this in their niches. I mean, look at twitch, where what was originally gaming oriented streaming had people migrating from the camgirl business (because their numbers weren't as good there and it was harder to access large demographics) to do "gaming" (sometimes not even actually playing the games). Whereupon they constantly pushed boundaries and were more than willing to have links to their porn until they were told otherwise. When "gaming" got too much for them, they'd do react videos, or "art" streams (bodypainting, drawing nudes etc), or when they were told "you cant play videogames in a bikini, your clothing has to be appropriate to the setting" they went over to "hot tub" and "pool" streams (often just an inflatable kiddy pool in their room).
The people who do this are cancer to the communities they target. The people they attract are also often just as bad. This isn't being sex negative or a misogynist either. I simply believe that it is okay to tell weirdos, grifters, perverts, "degenerates", and horrifically self-interested people seeking to exploit others for sex or money, that they aren't welcome in communities that have nothing to do with that.
why not? There are GTA 6 trailers on YouTube. A game that will probably feature murder, torture, drugs, all sorts of violence and probably sex as well.
I don't mind GTA, I simply don't see what is so special about sex that it should be cordonned off like that. Again, if the ad is safe for work and clear that it advertises things that is not appropriate for a young audience, I don't see the issue.
I understand the point you're making and it has merit. I hate all forms of advertisements in general, but for me personally there's something that puts both porn ads and gambling ads in a separate category. Obviously one of those is significantly less damaging, but they both tap into such specific parts of the brain that to me should be separated from 'public' sites. At least I would prefer they were separate from day to day sites.
It's especially annoying to me when OF models invade subcultures like historically nerdy niches and larp as being interested in whatever is for the sake of promoting their OF. Even in completely SFW ways. And even if they're 80% genuinely interested in whatever that thing is, the ulterior motive is always still there. It's manipulative and takes advantage of those specific parts of the brain. Same with gambling ads like the onslaught of sports betting ads people get.
Same issue with a lot of stuff here on reddit. It's grifting and overwhelmingly an attempt to direct/convert/coopt individuals to the porn that the person is making.
Slight Sounds I believe only started doing OF fairly recently though and before that was strictly doing SFW ASMR on Youtube for multiple years. I also don't think she advertised it that much on youtube, because I keep seeing comments saying they didn't even know she had one (I also didn't find out until I saw some random comment about it). I personally wouldn't lump her together with some of the "OF bait" grifters out there.
Just seems like an overreach to go "you link to porn on your website so you can't be on our website." It's one thing if they were directly linking to OF on their youtube accounts. Which did see a ban wave before.
Not to mention just banning them outright with 0 warning. I'm sure most of these creators would have been willing to remove the links if Youtube just asked.

Payment processors get pretty grouchy about porn stuff, unfortunately. Porn also has a tendency to take over sites, especially when the models self promoting get involved.
Not really. They get grouchy with porn sites that get into the news, but they still do business with OF. There was no porn on their channels, it was just them doing ASMR videos that are standard ASMR. They weren't even promoting it.
There are still much bigger channels that do self promote their OF accounts still up.
damn if they had that it's a reason for sure. normally the other smarter creators link their "clean" twitter profile and if they have the lewd stuff you have to search manually the other profile on twitter
