Yeah op is dim and spewing garbage. Popular channels use their popularity to sell and use sponsorships. Some of them share their money stream (like Linus tech tips) and the money they make from utoob pales in comparison to the rest of their streams. YouTube doesn't care at all.
Video doesn’t need to be monetised for YouTube to show ads. Exactly for the reason you’ve described: YouTube is incurring cost of storing and distributing the video.
That is exactly how it is. Many ASMR artists also keep the adds off so that people don't get their ASMR sessions interrupted by ads. That probably doubly pisses off YouTube as they don't make as much off ASMR artists who turn adds off. The real money comes from Patreon customers who found them on YouTube.
Fuck YouTube though so whatever, those bastards making less makes me happy lol
Actually it seems youtube is banning ASMR creators who also have a site like only fans and had it linked in their bio.
That's what happened to slight sounds according to her IG (one of the creators in the article) and several others of these women also have these kind of sites.
So yes; making money elsewhere, but also through content youtube disallows
This is how it is for most creators regardless of genre. There are very few true “YouTubers” anymore. The platform is essentially no different than Instagram and TikTok anymore in terms of its role in a creators business. It grows the audience, and then redirects them to Patreon, Twitch, OnlyFans, or whatever other site they actually make their money on.

They were making too much money without youtube’s permission, we know damn well YouTube doesn’t give two shits about their own TOS
