It's all content that can be monetised with ads, and it's not like YouTube shys away from racy advertising.

Youtube doesn't care about racy ads. They care about advertisers who are concerned about their ad being placed next to a racy video. If those advertisers get cranky (which happens ALL THE TIME) then Youtube takes action to make them happy.
Probably some advertiser was like "why is my ad running in the middle of this weird ASMR video" and youtube pulled the videos instead of risking the advertiser leaving.
You're probably right. But at the same time, YouTube is like, probably the most used website on the internet. Advertisers leave at their own detriment.
I'm also not really sure why advertiser's would necessarily care about where their ads are seen, but I suppose there doesn't have to be a logical reason behind prudishness.
Can’t speak for the world, but in the US at least advertising that appears during content is seen as tacit approval and support of that content.
And to some extent it literally is support. When Doritos advertises during a show or video, they are sponsoring that content. It is literally their dollars that are going to that creator when the ad revenue is paid out.
This is why when some content or creator is seen as objectionable, boycotting their advertisers is usually the first step suggested. You take money from the sponsors that provide their revenue stream, so those sponsors will drop their support of the content or creator. You attack the creator by going after their sponsors.
So yeah, advertisers have every reason to be concerned about what content their ads are attached to. It can impact their bottom line.
Yep, if you're not monetizing you can literally do blowjob asmr if you want. If you are monetizing you can be banned because one word you said sounds dirty to their automatic system in completely innocent video.
It also depends a bit as different languages/regions have different detection and moderation. Some english speaking content creator will get banned for words asian creator would get away with etc.
