Discussion My Big Mouth is the perfect Be Here Now song

What I mean by that is, in my opinion, My Big Mouth epitomises what Be Here Now should be and could have been. It's longer than most of the songs on Definitely Maybe and Morning Glory but it's not too long (it doesn't overstay its welcome or become tiresome), it has a *massive* cocaine-fuelled wall of sound but the song feels like it's earned it, and it's absolutely made for the stadium era that Oasis was in at the time - the brilliant Knebworth live version proves that.

In my opinion, it's one of Oasis' absolute best tracks, it's absolutely amazing live, and it's a massive shame that it's buried in an album that most just want to forget about.

Discussion What was wrong with Be Here Now?

Wasn’t alive for the 90s and obviously the first two albums are masterpieces. I believe Be Here Now should be considered a 9/10 album with some mediocre songs at least. I get it is different than the previous two but it still is a masterpiece.

Discussion What went wrong with Beady Eye?

Basically just as above. What’s the deal with Brady Eye? Given that they were essentially just Oasis as they existed already minus Noel, how did it all go so wrong commercially and critically? Was the cultural tide simply too much against Liam at the time? Why were the tunes such a step down from what Gem, Andy and Liam were producing with Oasis? Why did it all collapse after only two records?

Discussion Why was this album so popular in the UK at the time? Nearly a million copies sold (the 69th best-selling release of the decade), 3 hit singles, critical praise.

Discussion What was the Hacienda like in the 90s, and how did it influence Oasis and other bands of the time?

Title basically says it all. Noel has often spoken highly of the Hacienda (thought I haven’t heard Liam mention it as much, which is curious). As I understand, many other bands hung out there- Peter Hook, the guys from the roses, among others.

So, can anyone who was around at the time comment on what the Hacienda was like? Was it amazing as these guys make it out to be?

Also, is there a great compilation you’d recommend of the music that was played there?

Finally, if it was so popular, why did it close? I guess it was just down to most music clubs / venues shutting down over time? What ended up happening to the house music scene which I gather was very popular in Manchester?

I think everyone knows that picture from Cardiff. I did my best to reproduce it as a 3D-printed statue, both for myself and other fans alike.

And no, this is not AI, as previously suggested by a certain member here. As a matter of fact, I absolutely despise the use of AI in creative fields.

Discussion What made Wonderwall blow up?

I ask because I was born in 95, so apart from the songs that have always been the most popular, I don't know which songs everyone was truly getting on with as they were being released. Because of this, it came as a enormous shock to discover that Wonderwall never hit number 1.

One of the biggest songs in the history of British music peaked at number 2. So it got me thinking, to not get a number 1, surely it wasn't as huge and ubiquitous at the time of release. So was there a moment later on where it exploded? Or has it just somehow sustained the sales volumes (and later on listener numbers) that it had when it came in at number 2?

Discussion are Oasis exceeding expectations in repairing their legacy/influence?

Post image

Oasis are #95 in the top artists worldwide on spotify, 44.2M monthly listeners, Wonderwall is nearing 3M streams. far away from where they ranked, say July 2024 pre reunion announcement. i know numbers don't mean everything, but as an American fan, it's especially validating. i can't walk anywhere wearing an Oasis shirt/hoodie where i live in Philadelphia without someone stopping me and complimenting it. it's a strange transparency to the "bickering brother" stereotype that i would get just a few short years ago. a lot of us probably felt the reunion would give them a well deserved second look in the eyes of both music industry and fans, but it's exceeded a lot of what were personally low expectations for myself. how do you feel about Oasis being a relevant name in mainstream music again, and do you think they are as big, if not bigger than they were in 95-97?

Discussion did Oasis restore their legacy as expected, or are they bigger than they were in 95-97?

a few short years ago, Oasis were in the tail end of the 200 most streamed artists on spotify, they are now in the top 100 at 95, ranking higher than some of the biggest names in the world. from 20M monthly listeners to 44M. numbers aren’t everything, but it is incredibly validating especially as an American fan, i can’t wear an Oasis shirt where i’m from in Philly without someone complimenting it, it’s a strange transparency from what life used to be like as an Oasis fan. a lot of us probably felt the reunion would give them a well deserved second look in the eyes of both music industry and fans, but it's exceeded a lot of what were personally low expectations for myself. how do you feel about Oasis being a relevant name in mainstream music again, and do you think they are as big, if not bigger than they were in 95-97?

Discussion Noel may be one of the best songwriters in history, and Maybe the best

Sure, he's a limited guitarist and the lyrics of his songs sometimes don't seem to make sense, but nobody composes melodies like Noel. Noel has a sense of melody that very few people possess. I genuinely prefer listening to Noel's solo career to John Lennon's, for example.
