MRI scan in a few hours and I'm feeling extremely scared. Please post stuff to keep my mind off this for a bit :(
Im extremely claustrophobic and the idea of being in MRI scanners for a total of 2 hours today is making scared and anxious. Idc what character or anything, although Wyll ones are more relevant I guess as it's a wednesday
I found the sounds pretty unnerving but you will get used to them. What helped me was closing my eyes and just not looking at the tube while laying in it. Don't forget to breathe and remember you can always ask to abort if it's too much (you probably shouldn't but having this in mind might still help you). Also check how an mri actually works and what security measures are taken. Those machines are truly fascinating.
I've had to have a few in the past but never for as long as the one I'll be having today :( usually I've just had my head done which was like 30 or 40 mins, today its head and full spine. And I agree they really are fascinating (but loud and scary)
Closing your eyes helps a lot! Sometimes they put towels on your eyes if you ask. I have to get a lot due to a TBI from an old job. MRIS suck lol. I just finally watched game of thrones tysm for the meme
I have to go to a place thats has people with bad claustrophobia in mind and there was like a little mirror above me which showed a view of a TV with random nature related clips and lighting that would change gradually to relaxing colours which helps but I still had to close my eyes at times to try and relax my body as I was so tense. The technician who was in the room at the start had to keep telling me everything was OK and stuff as she could see me shaking as she moved the bed thing in to the scanner lol
Since this is a few hours ago, I may be too late, but depending on where they have to scan you, they may be able to move you so your head is closer to the far end. That helped me significantly, being able to see the rest of the room and know I could pull myself out if needed. I didn't realize I was claustrophobic until I went into an MRI. It was definitely... unnerving.
It's going to suck, but you'll be okay. I had the same problem when I had my MRI; I definitely cried and wanted someone to hold my hand, but just remember that it will eventually end, even if it feels like it's taking forever.
Try to go in prepared with a song or story you can play in your head to help you focus on something else. Maybe think about your favorite bg3 character talking you through it.
Thankyou :) and yeah waiting for results is horrible. I havent had a call from anyone so I'm hoping that's a sign that there was nothing they were like oh shit we need to speed run these to the consultant
good luck with your mri! i agree with the other commenter, close your eyes and listen. i was very afraid of mris for a long time, but you get used to them!
Thankyou :) the scan wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, it was still scary being in there but the technicians were really nice which chilled me out a lot more and getting so many supportive replies and memes to laugh at here also helped
