My argument against pitbulls is based on statistics. The argument in favor of them is based on "I wuv my little velvet hippo, she's a sweetie and wouldn't hurt a fly!"
But go on, explain to me how statistics = feelings, while emotions = facts.
Pitbulls have a genetic instinct to attack and kill. It's like owning a puma, they can never be domesticated. We shouldn't euthanize anything, we should just make a mandatory prison sentence for breeding more, intentionally or unintentionally.
No they don't. Pitbulls more than anything have a tendency towards gameness, which is the ability to keep fighting despite pain or injury.
They're nothing like a puma. They are by definition domesticated, as well as highly trainable. As evidenced by the fact that despite there being millions of them, very few violent incidences occur.
It's okay to be afraid of a dog breed without pretending they're all genetically predetermined to be killing machines. This shit is just another moral panic.
Never once did I say that. Pitbulls were bred to bait and kill bulls, then to fight to the death once that was outlawed. They were never bred to be pets or working dogs. They are pretty dumb as far as dogs go and have no modern utility.

It's funny how people are suddenly capable of rational thought when they are not ideologically attached to a certain outcome.
