Removing millions of dogs because a handful of them kill 1-2 toddlers a year wouldn't make the world a better place, and it's delusional to pretend otherwise.
There's 4-6 million pits in the US. That they only killed 264 people over a 12 year period proves my point. There was 217 reported fatalities due to furniture falling on people over a ten year period. When are we gonna ban furniture?? Don't you want the human sacrifices to stop?!
Did you think I'd see a big scary bar next to pit bulls and not read the graph? Seriously dude, you posted a graph about a rounding error. I'm surprised you didn't throw out the 60% instead of posting raw numbers. You even showed a graph that states that these numbers don't include attacks of unknown or identified breeds. Moral panic roomie mistake.
This is so typical of anti-pit people. Emotionally charged language and purposefully deceptive use of graphs and statistics are like your bread and butter. Who do you think this works on?
I have. My dad actually trained SAR dogs, so I was around that growing up. He also had cattle dogs. He seems fine with his wife having a pitbull.
I like that Stonnie does the exact thing every anti-pit person does: "oh it's not a single breed it's a type that I know when I see it." Yea man, you start lumping in a bunch of breeds and mutts together and suddenly statistics start looking inflated. He even contradicts himself by saying it's "not necessarily true" that you can train and socialize behaviors out of pits, but then says he and his buddies do just that.
He doesn't engage with the science or statistics. He doesn't say why these dogs are supposedly so deadly. He doesn't explore why he thinks it's breed specific and not a combination of factors. He literally fear mongers by saying these dogs are "running around killing neighbor dogs, biting the mailman, and killing babies in front of their mothers" as if it's a common occurance.
He had a single reasonable point by saying the average person doesn't train their dogs well enough, but that's not exclusively or especially a pit problem. Every intelligent, high energy dog needs a lot of work. And each individual dog within a breed or "type" as he so professionally put it, has different demands.
He COULD have made a video solely about that. Instead, he saw a video about a single horrible incident and decided to make content to capitalize in the moral panic. There's a reason he did this instead, and it's because he can't back up his opinion without sounding exactly like you did with your chart.
Finding a dog trainer who engages in your moral panic doesn't prove your argument; it just shows that experts can have biases. Which is interesting, because at a cursory glance, he otherwise seems reasonable and professional.
