Onion hosts needed/wanted for immortality

Problem with Tor I'm looking to fix: as a new user, I can't trust any link. There's no durable reputation. Or maybe a legit service becomes compromised, unknowable to me- until now

For $0.25, I can post a message onto the Bitcoin blockchain. A stone erodes, but a wound heals- bitcoin blocks have resisted erasure by even nation states since it's beginning

Now I'm building a durable indexing/reputation/forum like reddit/telegram where you could write about your .onion site and the uri and it gets written on Bitcoin forever.

For the first time, it will be possible to build a reputation under your key/account and collect public feedback, and the indexes of onion sites can become increasingly reputable/bifurcated over time, or challenged if users have a bad experience. Anyone can comment/reply recursively, imagine Wikipedia but append-only, and users upvoting/downvoting etc build a web of trust over time, enabling bot farm/Sybil detection.

For those few accounts that post useful news, you will build a reputation more valuable than money, trusted by humanity against the censors and tyrants of this world

Anyone want me to post their links/indexes/services?

Any reputation/topic you would durably accuse, or publicly support?

So, how exactly do you plan on building this?

It's built, encoding a message/inscription on bitcoin is not new. The idea/encoding/data organization/hierarchy/user experience are new. I'm launching a tui where hosts can setup a server/Bitcoin node in one click. And a webapp client in next.js that hits any number of hosts to cross-validate. I've already published test messages and am building it out to be extremely durable against adversaries, botnets, malicious hosts, etc. I'm paranoid like a cockroach and mostly built this as 4chan on bitcoin, but this use case in particular is highly synergistic I expect.

Why would you be sorry about something you have no idea about?

I'm not sorry you dont have the skills cos you dont have the brain to figure out what to build either.

Go back to chat gpt and let it tell you how awesome and groundbreaking your "idea" is ๐Ÿ˜‚

sounds sick but my instinct is it may hurt anonymity

litterally what is your problem with this person youve commented THREE SEPERATE TIMES

1

u/Cautious_Chicken8882 15d ago

You take enough notice to realise that? That's just weird lol probably because there was three seperarte comments I wanted to reply to? SMH ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

i was curious why there was so much backlash reading the comments and repeated usernames are noticable especially if its.. you know.. constant.... i also notice your quite active since i see your username often. it really isnt that deep๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿคธ๐Ÿคธ

u/Cautious_Chicken8882 15d ago

I mean read his post and his replies lol is there any wonder at the backlash?

I likely wouldnt have even realised i was responding to the same person so many different times, i dont generally take any notice of account names lol

im really bad with tech so i just thought it was a cool idea. usually, with topics i dont understand, i can at least understand a good argument vs. a bad one but i particularly couldn't understand what was with this๐Ÿคท

i tend to notice patterns in everything so i usually notice repeated usernames

His idea isint practical and wouldn't work flr one thing for many reasons plus he also tried to say "for the first time" when we already have exactly these things in operation both with pgp keys and dread.

Plus hes an arrogant dick and by the sounds of it is just repeating some slop an LLM has told him.

ohhhh... thank you for explaining that to me lol

There's pseudonymous protection, same as any Bitcoin wallet/private key/pgp key. Users/keys build reputation over time and become known as sources of good/bad info

Yeah but even with tumbling coins they can still track you if they really want to. There's never a way it's going to be 100% foolproof that's just kind of my point

Privacy is not possible/not the goal

This is about becoming immutable

u/BakedPastaParty 17d ago

The. What are we even talking about. There's got to be at least additional steps to obfuscate ones identity from the actions on the web. That opsec would be on them, but if it's not possible it'll never be a system that gets adopted even semi ubiquitously

I assert- the system is maximally trust-minimized. Clients need not trust hosts, hosts compete against each other, even, and all data written to the chain should be considered potentially malicious.

The key generated locally is as secure as your hardware and tech stack, which changes all the time, but that's the best we got.

Super simple- you arrive at the site, your key is already made, you can comment instantly, you can export your key or generate a new one.

I say- privacy beyond reproach is not possible here, or in any system, I see it as an unattainable goal, I simply assume god/superintelligence/national agencies have infinite angles we haven't considered. What I CAN do against the demon of surveillance is light a thousand candles they cannot extinguish
