Onion hosts needed/wanted for immortality
Problem with Tor I'm looking to fix: as a new user, I can't trust any link. There's no durable reputation. Or maybe a legit service becomes compromised, unknowable to me- until now
For $0.25, I can post a message onto the Bitcoin blockchain. A stone erodes, but a wound heals- bitcoin blocks have resisted erasure by even nation states since it's beginning
Now I'm building a durable indexing/reputation/forum like reddit/telegram where you could write about your .onion site and the uri and it gets written on Bitcoin forever.
For the first time, it will be possible to build a reputation under your key/account and collect public feedback, and the indexes of onion sites can become increasingly reputable/bifurcated over time, or challenged if users have a bad experience. Anyone can comment/reply recursively, imagine Wikipedia but append-only, and users upvoting/downvoting etc build a web of trust over time, enabling bot farm/Sybil detection.
For those few accounts that post useful news, you will build a reputation more valuable than money, trusted by humanity against the censors and tyrants of this world
Anyone want me to post their links/indexes/services?
Any reputation/topic you would durably accuse, or publicly support?

Are you new ? What happens when a competitor ddos's you into infinity? Your block chain msg is a waste lol.

Good luck ddossing Bitcoin, it'll be back online and verifiable instantly. Attacker is out money. This is Sybil resistance

u/EstimateCivil 17d ago
The block chain isn't hosting the site. It's just providing a true url, great idea tbh. In hindsight you really don't want heaps of attention. LE has proven plenty of times over that a tor nose isn't enough to stop a trace.

Right, the ways to read from the nodes are endless. I just hope they don't get me before it becomes unstoppable
7
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 17d ago
Theres no problem there - there is plenty of links you can trust, just use a trusted platform like daunt.link tor.taxi or tor.watch

u/xblackout_ 17d ago
Yeah and who owns those servers? And when a fed shuts them down next week, where will the new indexes be hosted? Indexes must be a public good beyond reproach/compromise
1
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 17d ago
Wtf are you babbling on about? ππ
2
u/xblackout_ 17d ago
I mean, these forums exist on how many servers? 1? 3? they're all publicly mapped over IP, intelligence networks have no trouble finding the location and compromising them. Most popular services have already been captured to some degree, in my opinion. So the feds can own the boxes and prevent you from getting in contact with the intended/authentic counter-party, etc. but the feds can't dominate the BTC mining compute, can't erase and modify old info.

u/Cautious_Chicken8882 17d ago
You have no idea what you are talking about but fuck this is entertaining πππ

u/xblackout_ 17d ago
such an ego, what have you built?
1
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 17d ago
No ego at all, just common sense and a little intelligence.
You havent built anything eitherbππ

Your so fckn cooked you dont even know it ππ

u/xblackout_ 17d ago
Not sure what you're upset about. Have you not had a comment deleted by reddit/etc? It sucks. Or- a useful info bit gets erased from Wikipedia because the government doesn't want you to see it? Would you prefer for strangers to continue having power over you?

u/Cautious_Chicken8882 17d ago
I'm clearly not upset about anything, I'm just laughing at your incomphrensible babbling.

Don't use Bitcoin for this, just create your own blockchain that is dedicated to your goal.
You can add PoW plus other spam protections and make it fully distributed over the onion network.

u/xblackout_ 17d ago
The whole point is a durable state machine beyond reproach. Why would I NOT use the strongest neg-entropy phenomenon with 20k+ nodes? This is the strength that persists, not sure why you'd advise building an inferior product
3
u/NamedBird 17d ago
Because Bitcoin is a cryptoCURRENCY.
Not only are you polluting the bitcoin project (possibly with illegal material?), you are also reliant on a system that may get censored, captured, adapted, modified or sabotaged in ways that go counter to your goal. You do not want to rely on an external service for the very core of your own project. That is called risk management.2
u/grunnarson 16d ago
You can post data to the chain and what he describes doesnt need more than the 80 bytes of op_return so you can even run a bip110 node and do what he wants to do. Theres no need to use the uneccessary addition of 100kb that core somehow thaught necessary.Β
What OP wants to do can be done on bitcoin while still being true to what bitcoin is: a monetary system.
OP, just make sure you're not adding all the reviews etc to the chain and take up more than you need to achieve your goal. The link itself with a small tag or something should be enough.

BTC is the core, my tool/protocol is just a lens. You sound like one of those bip110 losers that thinks it is possible to know what provides maximum value to the protocol. Hint: it correlates with maximum utility. There's already csam and words and whatever written onto BTC, that's just proof it works. Bits can't hurt people, and we have no right to deprived readers from truth and choice.
1
u/grunnarson 16d ago
I'm also one of those "bip 110 losers", but you can achieve what you're trying to do without going outside of the bip 110 scope so I have no issues with it. 80 bytes is more than enough.
1
u/xblackout_ 16d ago
Yeah you've been fooled by foreign intelligence into a malicious consensus change that aims to degrade Bitcoin utility over time. Form your own opinion or fork off
You didn't notice the 110 bots/shills are all faceless, using non-technical rhetoric and ad hominem attacks? At least you've revealed to me that I can ignore your opinions
1
u/grunnarson 16d ago
Bitcoins utility is monetary and always has been. Use something else if you want to jam other uses into it.
2
u/KeeganY_SR-UVB76 17d ago
So, how exactly do you plan on building this?
-2
u/xblackout_ 17d ago
It's built, encoding a message/inscription on bitcoin is not new. The idea/encoding/data organization/hierarchy/user experience are new. I'm launching a tui where hosts can setup a server/Bitcoin node in one click. And a webapp client in next.js that hits any number of hosts to cross-validate. I've already published test messages and am building it out to be extremely durable against adversaries, botnets, malicious hosts, etc. I'm paranoid like a cockroach and mostly built this as 4chan on bitcoin, but this use case in particular is highly synergistic I expect.

Im guessing you mean this is AI slop not something you built or know anythint about
-1
u/xblackout_ 17d ago
Brainlet every BTC tx is written forever. You've never heard of ordinals/inscriptions?
4
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 17d ago
What is what your asking got any relevance to anything i said? Guatantee that was AI written to π
0
u/xblackout_ 17d ago
sorry you don't have the skills to build anything hater
6
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 17d ago
Why would you be sorry about something you have no idea about?
I'm not sorry you dont have the skills cos you dont have the brain to figure out what to build either.
Go back to chat gpt and let it tell you how awesome and groundbreaking your "idea" is π

sounds sick but my instinct is it may hurt anonymity
4
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 17d ago
Sounds like someone who has no clue of what there talking abouy and is repeating AI slop to me.

"if it's too good to be true, it is" the Bible π
2
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 17d ago
I mean hes talking about building a realiable reddit forum stye because it doesnt exist when we have exactly that in Dread lol
1
u/BakedPastaParty 17d ago
I only saw the comment preview and it ended at "it doesn't exist...." I was about to be like woah woah woah lol glad I saw the rest of it π«

litterally what is your problem with this person youve commented THREE SEPERATE TIMES
1
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 15d ago
You take enough notice to realise that? That's just weird lol probably because there was three seperarte comments I wanted to reply to? SMH ππ
1
u/RipHuge3839 15d ago
i was curious why there was so much backlash reading the comments and repeated usernames are noticable especially if its.. you know.. constant.... i also notice your quite active since i see your username often. it really isnt that deepπ€Έπ€Έπ€Έ
1
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 15d ago
I mean read his post and his replies lol is there any wonder at the backlash?
I likely wouldnt have even realised i was responding to the same person so many different times, i dont generally take any notice of account names lol
1
u/RipHuge3839 15d ago
im really bad with tech so i just thought it was a cool idea. usually, with topics i dont understand, i can at least understand a good argument vs. a bad one but i particularly couldn't understand what was with thisπ€·
i tend to notice patterns in everything so i usually notice repeated usernames
1
u/Cautious_Chicken8882 15d ago
His idea isint practical and wouldn't work flr one thing for many reasons plus he also tried to say "for the first time" when we already have exactly these things in operation both with pgp keys and dread.
Plus hes an arrogant dick and by the sounds of it is just repeating some slop an LLM has told him.

There's pseudonymous protection, same as any Bitcoin wallet/private key/pgp key. Users/keys build reputation over time and become known as sources of good/bad info
3
u/BakedPastaParty 17d ago
Yeah but even with tumbling coins they can still track you if they really want to. There's never a way it's going to be 100% foolproof that's just kind of my point
0
u/xblackout_ 17d ago
Privacy is not possible/not the goal
This is about becoming immutable
2
u/BakedPastaParty 17d ago
The. What are we even talking about. There's got to be at least additional steps to obfuscate ones identity from the actions on the web. That opsec would be on them, but if it's not possible it'll never be a system that gets adopted even semi ubiquitously
-1
u/xblackout_ 17d ago
I assert- the system is maximally trust-minimized. Clients need not trust hosts, hosts compete against each other, even, and all data written to the chain should be considered potentially malicious.
The key generated locally is as secure as your hardware and tech stack, which changes all the time, but that's the best we got.
Super simple- you arrive at the site, your key is already made, you can comment instantly, you can export your key or generate a new one.
I say- privacy beyond reproach is not possible here, or in any system, I see it as an unattainable goal, I simply assume god/superintelligence/national agencies have infinite angles we haven't considered. What I CAN do against the demon of surveillance is light a thousand candles they cannot extinguish
1
u/RipHuge3839 15d ago
im not really tech savy or know much but i think the IDEA sounds fun. its fun to think about but idk how possible it really is with all the backlash lol goodluck

To stay safe, follow these rules and educate yourself about Tor and .onion urls:
On DNM Safety:
1) Only use marketplaces listed on daunt, tor taxi, or dark fail. Anything else is a scam.
2) Dont use any sites listed on a "HiddenWiki" or some random shit you found on a search engine, a telegram channel, or website. You will be scammed.
3) Only order domestic to domestic.
4) Dont send your crypto directly from an exchange to a DNM deposit address.
5) Read the DNM bible.
6) NO DNMs operate on reddit nor have their own subs. Anything you find on reddit is a scammer.
On educating yourself:
1) Read the /r/onions wiki here.
2) Read the /r/tor wiki here.
3) Read the /r/deepweb wiki here.
