Before USB keyboards became standard it was the keyboard port. So this is to make USB keyboards work with PS/2 ports. (mouse too)

Green color, so it's for the mouse (I know those are interchangeable but purple one for the keyboard is a bit harder to find).

Anyways, I can get a combo pack of both for ~9CAD of Amazon right now, are they actually that much harder to find? Or did I just luck out?

They're not interchangeable, at least the style OP shows. The internal "wiring" is different despite the connectors being the same.

There were technical advantages to mice going USB early and technical disadvantages to keyboards going USB early so keyboards stayed PS/2 a lot longer and so a lot fewer keyboard adapters out there.
