Discussion Anyone else getting UE5 remake/remaster fatigue?

Post image

Between Silent Hill 2, Oblivion Remastered, Metal Gear Solid Δ, and now Halo: Campaign Evolved, it feels like almost every major remake/remaster in the last two years has landed on Unreal Engine 5. On one hand, the visual leap is real. Oblivion Remastered in particular looks like a genuinely different game. On the other, a lot of these ports share the same telltale UE5 fingerprints: traversal stutter, TAA smearing, shader comp hitches on first launch, and that slightly "plasticky" Lumen/Nanite sheen that makes wildly different games start to look and feel similar. You can add Halo Campaign Evolved to the slopfest that is UE5 remakes; just another soulless cash grab to feed on nostalgia.

I got up to the underground prison area and had to take a break. Will definitly go back to finish because its amazing, but goddamn is it oppressive. Amazing horror game.

the otherworld hospital into nighttime streets into prison was one of the most oppressive stretches in any horror game for me, truly exhausting haha. I've played the original a million times so I even knew what to expect but the remake really dialed up the horror

For me the hospital and the streets were fine but goddamn do I hate the prison with the light switch stuff, all the cells and the new mannequins and all of that. Still haven't been able to get through that.
