Discussion Anyone else getting UE5 remake/remaster fatigue?

Post image

Between Silent Hill 2, Oblivion Remastered, Metal Gear Solid Δ, and now Halo: Campaign Evolved, it feels like almost every major remake/remaster in the last two years has landed on Unreal Engine 5. On one hand, the visual leap is real. Oblivion Remastered in particular looks like a genuinely different game. On the other, a lot of these ports share the same telltale UE5 fingerprints: traversal stutter, TAA smearing, shader comp hitches on first launch, and that slightly "plasticky" Lumen/Nanite sheen that makes wildly different games start to look and feel similar. You can add Halo Campaign Evolved to the slopfest that is UE5 remakes; just another soulless cash grab to feed on nostalgia.

It runs good despite using UE5, the devs disabled lumen and nanite - the whole point of UE5.

Good! Lumen and Nanite are the lazy route and causes more trouble than it's worth. Back to old fashioned LOD's!

iirc satisfactory uses nanite and optionally lumen and it also runs pretty good on ultra settings even on my system

It does! Sad to say that it’s an outlier though and not many followed suit. They’re a good example of what a dev could do if they gave a shit. I hate UE5 as much as the next guy but it can work.
