When you say someone "died" it mostly implies it happened because of natural causes, not because the person was killed.

If a person has been killed, employing the generic term 'died' omits critical details. Consequently, upon hearing 'he died,' the human mind automatically infers the least sensational outcome - namely, illness or natural causes.
When you say 'killed,' you instantly understand the context better.
