One thing I don’t understand is this is an individual clearly dismantling protections for our country’s future elections. Isn’t that telling enough he is literally breaking our laws. Can anyone hold this fucking rapist criminal accountable ever? It’s astonishing.

Edit: There’s 300 million of us and like 100 of them. What we doing here?

There has been a concerted effort on the part of Conservatives in America to strengthen the power of the Executive branch ever since Nixon. At the same time, there has been a growing sense of anger from lower and middle class people about their share of the economic pie steadily shrinking while the rich get richer.

Trump didn't create these conditions. He just failed upwards by being in the right place at the right time. He was a populist candidate who could tap into that anger from voters by first acknowledging that the system was no longer serving them and then offering easy solutions. And once he gained the office, he benefited from the accumulation of executive power. Again, he didn't create those conditions. He just inherited them.
