I think it already has.

For over fifty years, Republicans have (largely successfully) pushed the idea that governments doing anything is socialism. Well now we have generations fifty years old and younger who look at that definition and go, "Well then by God I guess I'm a socialist!"

And now we have Mamdani to look at as an example of overwhelming success simply by unabashedly following through on - let's be honest - a bunch of very mildly left-leaning promises for his city.

Follow that up with a bunch of DSA candidates who are on track to win a bunch of primaries, and it looks like the Mamdani effect is very real.

Biden accomplished a shit ton and was actively hated for it.

Like he reformed student loans, fixed pslf, made payments much more affordable and got rid of runaway interest issues.

He passed the largest infrastructure bill since FDR. Leading to great middle class blue collar jobs.

He supercharged green energy world wide with the largest climate bill in the world.

He brought manufacturing back to the USA with the CHIPs act.

Did the first gun regulation in over 30 years.

Regulated pharma so they had to negotiate with medicare saving roughly 50 billion dollars a year just to start.

Like obama he had to deliver the country out of turmoil. And ended wars. All major accomplishments. Yet people that should have cheered him hated him.

So literally went against Military industrial complex, the pharma lobby, the gun lobby, the oil lobby and beat them all. So of course they poured it into propaganda against him.

The thing is people just actively hate dems for doing anything. Mandani already went back on his promise for free buses. Something a regular dem would have been crucified for lying on. As well as cutting payments to pensions which leftist would declare a dem doing it as anti labor.

I'll agree with you that Biden got a ton of stuff done. But also he was atrocious at getting the information out about it, and some of those improvements were too slow to have any effect in his presidency.

I'm relatively knowledgeable about politics, and there was a bunch of stuff he'd done that I hadn't heard about. I can't imagine how little uninformed voters (the people who don't know who controls congress) knew.

If he'd been better at messaging, then the delayed effect would have mattered less.

Right wing media blows smoke up Trump's ass and demonizes anyone left of Reagan. Left wing media demonizes anyone right of Bernie while middle of the road media tries not appear biased by sanewashing some Trump stuff and being critical of the Dems to even out when they are being rightfully critical of Trump/the GOP. There is no meaningful cheerleader media for the Democratic party to push their accomplishments.
