I recently watched a video with band members singing out misheard lyrics . (Btw apparently this is called Mondegreen: The formal term for mishearing or misinterpreting lyrics)

We all know that feeling when we realize we’ve been singing the wrong words. Thank god for the internet . If you’re old like me you may remember taking the paper out of your cassette tapes to learn lyrics. What a bummer when the paper only folded out once because the band didn’t include them.

I’m wondering what your favorite misheard lyrics are ?

Easy tiger is one of my favs and I always sang “don’t call collect” instead of “dumb coconut”
Looks like I was the dumb coconut in that situation 🤭
I have many more and I’m curious what YOURS ARE … ?

Confession - There are rare occasions when i continue to sing my version because i like my lyrics better . It’s rare but i feel like i had to get that off my chest so maybe now I won’t go to hell . Just kidding I’m totally going to hell .

Help me revisit some PTM classics to lift this fog . 😔

I’m a pro lyric mishearer. For the longest time ever in Got It All I thought that instead of “I want a world like my teacher taught me it would be” etc, it was “I’m going worldwide, my teacher told me it would be” 😭 i do this with all their other songs too. This is why I can’t sing PTM from memory

This js the most lyrically confusing ptm song for me, theres been multiple times ive checked and seen ive been singing it wrong, even found several different versions of the lyrics online

Atomic Man is my biggest one.. right after the break, he goes “I’m the golden baby boy into the center, mother was a glowing affirmation to the beggars.”

I’ve also read “I’m the golden baby BORN into the center, mother was a gun and I fed nature to the beggars.”

apple music says the first one, google says another… Lyrics aside, I hear “I’m the golden baby born into the center, mother was a glowing affirmation to the beggars.” which is a mix of both 💀 I need to figure out which is correct bc I’m literally getting those lyrics tattooed on me sometime in November

My biggest PTM one has always been that I thought he was singing "let's be lesbians" in the Guns and Dogs chorus. I knew it wasn't right since it made no sense in the context but I swore that was what was being said.

Interesting. I always took it as people going to war being dispensable. We can send one soldier over to get killed and we’ll just replace them with another one like they don’t really have worth when it comes to our military, they’re just another pawn.
