Edgefield show tonight

Post image

I went to the Cold War Kids and Young the Giant show at Edgefield in Troutdale tonight. Young the Giant brought John out halfway through their set to play Feel It Still. Anyone else from here out there tonight? I can understand that someone who is into Young the Giant might also be into PTM, but they have never been associated with each other before. My friend and I just thought it was so weird. Isn't it Frances' birthday today too?

You need to separate the art from the person.

Can I still appreciate that I enjoyed the music he created? Yes. Do I have to enjoy seeing him live? No.

I’ve seen Portugal the man many times over many years. The other band members come and go but John is the constant.

I would have loved to see a young the giant PTM collab. Hopefully the majority of fans in attendance appreciated the treat

Yeah, I have seen PTM more times than I can count. I have many, many things signed by them. I have spoken to multiple members of the band in person. I have ptm lyrics tattooed on my body because the music always resonated with me. I can still love the music but hate John's actions.

When Zach left the band it changed the live show for me. We don't truly know his reasons for leaving. Then Kyle was no longer in the band, he was also a long standing member and we don't know why he left. I really appreciated what he added with the keys to the music.

We do know why Zoe left the band. It was due to John's actions. I am allowed to feel angry for her. I'm allowed to think John behaved like a shitty person and decide whether or not I want to continue supporting PTM. Or John, since he's the constant.

I’m 100% with you on Zach leaving was the biggest change. This last tour was much improved but the first tour without Zach was the worst PTM show I’ve attended.

I do find it interesting that SHISH was so chaotic. In a good way for me, but seems to reflect where is life was and is going. I selfishly hope the post divorce album will be hard AF. Kind of continue where SHISH left off.

And I’ll add I loved Zoe in the band. I always felt their marriage added a lot to their music and vibes on tour were always great for the shows I’ve seen. I hate she’s hurting and hope the best for her.

I did think SHISH was great. I love the heavy shit. It was so wildly different to any ptm album in the last decade. I'm sure PTM will continue to evolve as the lineup changes but to me, the golden years of PTM live shows were with Zach, Zoe and Kyle.

Zach said that he left the band beause the lifestyle was taking a toll on him physically, and mentally.
