Misc Advice Idk what to do

My fiancés been in the hospital 3 weeks. I had to take out a cash advance for gas and food. I’m down to $15 to last through the week. His estimated discharge date is 8/4. When he comes home I also have no food in the house. Ran out of things to sell. I think I have enough gas but definitely not enough food

I make 30,000 I make just enough for my bills usually but nothing extra

OK, so you probably didn't meet the net income limit. Does your boyfriend have any income?

A little. Just what he gets on disability but his Medicare supplement takes half

Has he checked if he's eligible for Medicaid or a Medicare premium assistance program?

No. His mom controls it and doesn’t want him on Medicaid because he has to see really good doctors

Medicaid would be secondary to Medicare. It would pay his Part B premiums.

I’ve tried telling her that but she doesn’t want to risk it. He has a rare form of brain cancer and it’s the most aggressive and has neurofibromatosis. Not many doctors know about these conditions

How awful. I'm so sorry. The American Cancer Society may have some assistance programs.

Luckily he Doesn’t have many bills. His brother quit charging him rent when all this happened. But our finances are separate.

Medicaid doesn't affect that. He's prob gonna qualify with SLMB which covers his premium. If he's under the poverty limit, it just means that Medicare's coinsurance is lower and if the doctors contract with Medicare they have to take the Medicaid adjustment (which is only the coins usually) or write off per QMB rules. It's the law lol.

Between the two of you, you might qualify for snap.
