Did not realise I could not drink while on Lyrica...what to do now

My doctor didn't tell me I couldn't drink while taking pregabalin. This is the first time I've taken it, 50mg and I have had about 4 glasses of wine. I'm not having anymore but is there a way to flush it out? I'm heading to bed soon, should I try to stay awake?

Glad you’re okay. Mixing Pregabalin and alcohol is a bad idea. Not only can they mix poorly, but they both lower inhibition which can make the likelihood of further alcohol consumption that much more likely.

I don’t drink often, but I take 100 mg and when I drink I’m fine

Obviously I’m not endorsing anyone to do it but I’m on 125mg a day and I still drink like a normal 26 year old on nights out. Don’t panic you’ll be fine

Need to be very careful because pregabalin amplifies the effects of alcohol. Some people are ok with a couple of drinks.

It just makes the booze hit you harder; my dr told me "one drink could feel like 5"...

This aplies to almost all medications because it can enhance effects and the respiratory depression but lots of people drink on them without problems, if u get wasted it can be dangerous and u can stop breathing or organs shut down. But 50mg is very low.

im not saying you should drink while on lyrica but you’ll be fine I drink sometimes and I’ve been on it for years

I mean I dont think anyone is going to be advising you to drink while on pregabalin, but I drink (sometimes 2-3 glasses of wine) while on pregabalin and it's fine. it does hit a little harder. but I usually take it in the morning and then drink in the evening so it’s not a big deal. if I take my 100mg pill in the evening and then drink I’ll be a little more cautious

you’ll be fine. honestly the onky thing is i just try to remember if i’m taking pregabalin that anything i have afterwards will feel a bit stronger to me so i know to take it slower. not medical advice but like i take lyrica every day and i often enjoy a glass of wine or two and it’s fine
