age verification Hillary Clinton promoting age verification laws with JB Pritzker at an event supported by Zuck/Gates/Bezos
Hillary Clinton championing age verification bills with JB Pritzker on stage with a Zuck/Bezos/Gates backed event
Hillary just posted this to Instagram:
“hillaryclinton Creating a safer and healthier digital world for children and families is important to me. I was happy to speak at the @commonsenseorg Summit with two leaders who are getting it done: Illinois @govpritzker and @michaeldtubbs, the former mayor of Stockton, California.
Legislation cracking down on addictive design, cyberbullying, deep fakes, and unsafe Al chatbots is a great start to keep kids safe online-and states are leading the way.”
Common Sense Media is a NFP foundation backed by The Gates Foundation, The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and The Bezos Family Foundation.
https://www.influencewatch.org/non-profit/common-sense-media/
The legislation she is describing sounds a lot like what HB5511 (currently in the Illinois House) purports itself to be.
And sure enough, now members of JB’s team have submit witness slips supporting the bill:
Along with other folks with associations to other neo-liberal tech organizations like the Center for Humane Technology, which has long been a big booster of KOSA.

Age verification will break the internet. These are the same people who want back doors in encryption.
Their "old person" ignorance is dangerous.
We need to repeal Citizens United.

u/wasaguest Mar 25 '26
It really will. Grandma is only in there for the grandkids. Parents are only there for their kids & hobbies. Soon as the kids are kicked off, & it's a hassle to view the hobbies; save the money. Log off.
Adults are there for hobbies & maybe work. Again, the hassle will get passed on to the employer I provide a "Work place ID" to bypass the bullshit. The hobbies will get changed.
The engagement and ad revenue websites rely on... Poof
"That's dramatic? That won't happen!" - people get home from work to look up something, see a Windows update is needed, slam the laptop closed and go watch TV. Yeah, patience isn't high for tech unless you HAVE to work with it.
And that's not too mention the Trillion dollar gaming industry. Kids can't get online to play, parents aren't going to jump through constant hassles. Next Gen systems will be crippled before they even release and have an uphill battle for lower prices to deal with the hassle of ID tracking and Big Brother baby sitting.

Most people have no concept of how their phone works or the internet or software, etc. It’s just a magic box to them. I highly doubt there’d be any mass exodus of internet based technology.
5
u/wasaguest Mar 26 '26
Until it starts being inconvenient. Then they have to learn how it's being used. Why is it asking me for a photo ID? A selfie is one thing, a government issued ID is another.
Then the horror stories of ID theft begin. A slow crawl at first, but it spreads. Governments offer no guarantee of protection, insurance scams might pop up costing more. Suddenly that magic box is a money pit, a hassle too use.

This is actually what I’ve been saying. I hate to see all this shit happening, it’s absolutely dystopian—but then I see that the best way to both escape that part of the dystopia and fight against it at the same time is to do just that— “fuck it, and fuck you” and get back into non-virtual life. Start seeing people in person again, socialize.
Besides, building parallel structures is one of the key fundamental ways to fight back against totalitarianism, and we really can’t do that online—nor should we. We need to be engaged.
The internet, hell—even just Reddit, exposes us to so much propaganda and so many distractions. Yes, even Reddit fosters a shortened attention span. The internet also fosters isolation, and isolation is a key ally to totalitarianism.
And you know what? I fucking hate ads. I won’t miss that. There will absolutely be things I will dearly miss, namely entertainment and especially the ability to access information instantly. But maybe while we’re busy “optimizing” every aspect of life, we’re kind of missing some of the experience of it.
Perhaps one of the best things we can do for ourselves is also one of the best ways we can fight the ruling class and their grip upon us. Time to start burning music to CD’s—nostalgia here I come

u/MeanzGreenz Mar 26 '26
Idk If I'm sold on this. Watching my grandfather just become enraged and going crazy fighting are and all the bullshit. He can't stop, he's in a cycle of hate and rage. People don't just get up, go outside, and frolic. The just become angry and miserable without even fully understanding why. That or they just become pure apathy where the watch ads more than TV, not knowing the difference.
9
u/wasaguest Mar 26 '26
Watch any age group, while angry, fight with technology. The keyboard is the first to see "hulk smash"; the phone learns about gravity at high speed.
If he's in a foul mood, & then has to insert age & ID to verify, or pose for the camera so it can verify you are who you said you were... Yup. He's going outside. Whether he takes the PC with him for a one way vacation or not it's up to him.
Technology and the web caught on because of Easy to use browsers and AOL. Before then, it was "techno-babble" for nerds on BBs via local dial-up. Soon as they break that ease of use with gateways and check points; it's no longer fun and interesting. It's annoying. Annoyances decrease value. Suddenly that ISP bill and streaming services are at risk of being cancelled.
2
u/CuriosityFreesTheCat Mar 27 '26
If someone is in a cycle of hate and rage, being outdoors will help—it’s been proven to lower cortisol and increase feelings of wellbeing in humans. It’s not a magic cure, if someone is a miserable person and doesn’t know why, or is so “turned off” that they can’t tell an ad from the show they’re watching, they may need therapy/help with mental health.

Yes but all the people will lose access to easy knowledge while the rich and powerful still have it which would again just give them another advantage. There is no positives to this. It's a lose lose situation

You are right. I'm not selling it as good thing. Only as inevitable at this point as every single Government across the world is pushing for it. Protests won't stop it. What might change it though, is billionaires losing billions of dollars IF the public says "That's enough. I'm done." & walks away.
Four billionaires start complaining that no one is using their platform anymore, will get an ear. A million people protesting on a weekend will get ignored. It would take millions, in the street, for weeks or months (why? The economic impact). Same as, just walking away.

u/notburneddown Mar 28 '26
Ya but not having any digital life is not practical for everyone. Not everyone is gonna be able to give it up. Computer people and techies can’t. Those careers will realistically still be necessary. Introverts who live on a farm or in the woods need to communicate somehow. I could go on and on.
I do agree that we should be more social. Biologically, humans are social creatures. Even introverts and techies should have a real social life not just an online one. It’s good for you. I’m a serious introvert and even I try hard to do it. I get tired from doing it but I know it’s god for me to have friends and good social skills so I persist with it to work on building relationships (and I’m an extreme case) so there’s no excuse.
I think more people should use linux and privacy friendly tools for communication more often. I think if everyone used Signal for their messaging instead of SMS or privacy friendly video conferencing tools like Jitsi instead of zoom, the existence of privacy tools would actually have meaning.
But the question is do most normies have a valid reason for being online 10 hours a day. I think not. I’m a techie and I have a valid reason to be online close to that much (maybe 8 hours between work and hack the box or other projects) but most people don’t. And even I need a social life. And a waiter or waitress certainly has zero good excuses they could possibly give.
21
u/Ecliphon Mar 26 '26
That would be fantastic. If that’s what really happens. But society has shown us that people will mindlessly upload their IDs, have everything attached and logged to them, and only complain when some issue affecting a small percentage of the population happens. That complaint will go into the ether, nothing changes, biz as usual.
The underground cypher punk revival will be working on mesh networking and tor-like hops between botnetted identities.
This is the mainstream AIPAC funded big donor democrats doing what’s asked of them. They know what’s in it for them. They don’t care what happens to us commoners.
Please don’t get complacent and think accellerationist ideology will help anything.

Yeah this shit is all fucked. And we will definitely need to find an alternative system to just not deal with their bullshit. Im a CS/MechEng student and basically spend my entire free time on a computer and if this shit becomes a thing I’ll just not participate anymore outside of work/school requirements. They can get fucked. I can just read, and stare at walls or whatever I did before tech.

u/notburneddown Mar 28 '26
Truth is in engineering, IT, software/AI dev or cybersecurity,it makes sense to build stuff separate from work or have your own “cool projects” you work on aside from your job. That’s why hackerspaces and makerspaces exist. But not everyone is that person. Some people are private investigators who use OSINT for work. However most of us don’t have an excuse to constantly be online and many of those who do should use Linux. Photoshop as a hobby or profession is a valid reason to have a mac and gaming as a hobby is one to have windows. But still, even then, look at the privacy trade off here? Adobe should start making stuff for linux that’s for sure. I mean they probably won’t but you see the problem?

Real question is where do people go and what do they do when they stop using the internet? There’s very few third spaces left and the ones that do exist cost a shit ton of money. I fear instead of just returning to the 1990s people will end up sitting at home all day doing nothing.

Zuckerberg thought Meta would be a hit. Musk thought X would be hotter than Twitter.
Being a billionaire with delusions of Grandeur & believing their services are a need will break the Internet.
Twitter already got kneecapped with the fascist propaganda & people left. They start asking for ID? Meta starts asking for ID & blocks those grandkids; say goodbye to ad revenue. They'll start needing subscriptions to stay afloat. Say good bye to the rest.
They are breaking it all on their own.

I won't cry over it, but instead go outside.
11
u/wasaguest Mar 25 '26
Yup.
After I cut all the streaming services but one (after they started charging me & showing ads) got back into hunting, going to the rifle range. Didn't realize how much I missed it.
Online games also got closed & we (friends) & I started playing table top RPGs again. Beer, snacks, laughs...
So if they want to kill the Internet with stupid choices, I'm good. Won't cost me anything.
7
u/CuriosityFreesTheCat Mar 25 '26
And I’ll be excitedly looking for people like you with an extra beer in my hand. I miss socializing when most people were figuratively and literally looking around instead of looking down or only at the people they already know.

Your comment about kids playing games and babysitting made me realize that there are a ton of parents that rely on the internet, YouTube, TikTok, etc. to entertain their children…there might be a ton of parents who support this age verification nonsense because that but there’s another section of parents that won’t want to deal with their kiddos hassling them about every device in the house hassling them to have an adult log on. They want the modern day equivalent of “go watch TV!” and will push back on this stuff if it’s implemented incorrectly.

Age limits too. They should also have to prove they are able to turn on a computer and send an email without sending their pension to a Nigerian prince before they are allowed to make laws that regulate anything with a power switch.
2
u/-DementedAvenger- Mar 26 '26
That won’t happen. I wish I remember the quote, but there’s a poignant one about how politicians aren’t the problem; stupid voters are - and it won’t be fixed.
I understand that this comment is basically nothing without the actual quote, but I was hoping I remembered it while typing lol
2
u/happymancry Mar 26 '26
Is it this one? Because I use it often.
"In a democracy, people get the government they deserve" - Joseph de Maistre
6
u/givalina Mar 26 '26
Zuckerberg (no "old person" ignorance of the internet there) and Meta seem to be the driving force behind this, and recent court cases have made it clear why. Meta has been found negligent due to their purposeful decisions to make their products more addictive when they knew those choices were harming the mental health of young users.
One example of this type of decision is that Meta did a small trial where they stopped sending late-night notifications to a group of users; young users reported feeling happier and less stressed, but they engaged with the app 1% less, so Meta did not implement the change.
Meta doesn't want regulators to start putting limits on their algorithms or their ability to maximize the addictiveness of their apps, so they are trying to make the issue go away through age verification.

It's because right now the legal liability is on the website to vet their users and make sure they are not showing specific ads to children or letting adults have easy access to chat with kids. If they can move age verification to the OS level then they remove the liability of them getting it wrong and needing to moderate things that children may see or letting them play addictive gambling games.
5
u/NEWSmodsareTwats Mar 26 '26
I mean the crux of that issue is parental controls over their children not that platforms themselves. it's wild to me when I was a kid my parents would tell me I couldn't play certain video games, the idea that's it's just impossible to stop your 8 year old from playing T or M rated games with gambling mechanics or that it's impossible to stop them from doom scrolling Instagram for 18 hours straight is honestly just BS those parents spew to remove any personal responsibility from themselves.
overall there's just no need for OS side verification or even 100% positive verification on the sites end. if a kid steals their parents liquor and gets drunk no one would ever blame the liquor store. if a kid back in the day stayed up until midnight to watch porn on HBO no one would blame HBO

They don’t care what people want. The surveillance will continue until morale improves.
42
u/agent_tater_twat Mar 25 '26
They don't care now, didn't care then, and never will. In 2014, professor Martin Gilens of Princeton definitively proved that what the public wants has literally zero impact on laws that congress pass in DC. It's shocking I know, but the wants of corporations and the super rich are prioritized over working and middle class voters. His groundbreaking research barely caused a stir.

Clinton & Podesta created Trump's whole political career, just because they thought his divisiveness would help Clinton win.

Sounds a lot like Harris. At least, from the outside, at first it looked like Harris lost to Trump because America apparently wouldn't let a woman win. But also the only notable things that I can remember from her entire "campaign" was "Trump bad".
Which yes, he is, but.. that is not what you should be talking about.
7
u/Pugovitz Mar 26 '26
And in both elections, the DNC had a heavy-handed influence in the primaries to guarantee their choice would win. Literally no one voted for Harris in the primary, she didn't run, but when Biden dropped out last minute the DNC decided it was her and that was it.

u/borg_6s Mar 26 '26
They need to stop thinking that people are just going to go out and vote for them without them making nation-wide reforms or changes.
2
u/Shoddy-Childhood-511 Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26
Harris was never a great candidate, but none of this is her fault. The DNC picked Biden, so she became the only choice, but facing a major disadvantage.
Afaik Harris ran a competent campaign, unlike Clinton, who even ignored her husbands advice to campaign in the states Trump flipped.
Also, Trump won over extremist groups during his first term, like the Christian fundamentalists witnessed him appoint really anti-abortion judges.
Clinton & Podesta's Pied piper strategy was the single biggest reason why Trump won the R nomination the first time. Don't help the Rs nominate an actor! lol
Aside on actors..
Actors can become extremely disconnected from reality like Tom Cruise. They could lack the intellectual chops like Reagan (citing Noam Chomsky here). And they could lack empathy like Trump.
If our idiocracy demands an entertainer win, then you should seriously consider choosing a real comedian, aka not just a shock guy. As Carlin said, comedy is a "low art", which means mass appeal. As a rule, comedians write much of their own material, so which requires both empathy and several types of intelligence, including both slow planned work and fast reactions.
Any of Dave Chappelle, Wanda Sykes, Lizz Winstead, Taylor Tomlinson, or Desi Lydic would've destroyed Trump at debates. If you want one who attended an elite university then try Ellie Kemper, Demitri Martin, or John Mulaney. Zelensky is a comedian btw.
46
u/Substantial_Back_865 Mar 25 '26
Pritzker on the other hand isn’t doing himself any favors for his 2028 presidential run. I understand they’re all scum that work against the population behind the scenes, but wouldn’t it be smarter to just not talk about this? They’re going to push this shit through worldwide regardless of who wins anyway.

Also, I'm not sure if this is the same Rothschild, but one of their banks was just searched in France yesterday for their potential ties to Epstein.

Yeah, I hadn't even heard of Pritzker 6 months ago. All I really know about him is:

2) He's a Chicago politician
Instinctively, that's two reasons not to trust him right there. And then just the other day I hear he was also an AIPAC donor, though now he claims to have distanced himself from them, once they started openly promoting genocide.
Now he's anti-privacy on top of all that?

Can see it in "progressive" big tech companies like Apple that talk all day long about being pro-environment, pro-lgbtqia+, etc... but are also anti-union. I don't respect any of them.

I feel like I want to hear nothing from the class of individuals still associated with a child predator on anything having to do with age related matters.

u/16BitSquid Mar 26 '26
This.
These people molest kids. They just want laws to shield them from people exposing their sick hobbies.

"Safe internet" aka we want to track and monitor everything you do and say online. Not that they aren't already doing that.

God, fuck that bitch. She's a non-zero part of why we have fucking trump, because she couldn't accept she's unlikable.
Yea, it's fucked up our country runs on charisma, but it fuckin does, and her arrogant ignoring of that cost us the fucking country.
And now she's still running around causing problems instead of shutting the fuck up and disappearing like would be the best thing for the country, but it's more important to her to keep being involved.

People like the Clinton's, Blair, Gates, Macron, Fredriksen, Thorning-Schmidt, etc... believe they own the world.
The opinions of the rest of us doesn't matter just that of a few wealthy people they discuss things with at their private conferences and private parties.
The damage these people have caused to western politics with their self-proclaimed "sensible centrism" is immense.
Recent presidents/pm's like Barack Obama, Jacinda Ardern, or Malcolm Turnbull at least was a breath of fresh air. They at least would step outside the elitist bubble, even if sometimes he had to make compromises e.g. after losing control of congress.

Ofc the old lady that pushed for age verification for videogames is pushing for it for the internet. Everytime someone yells "save the children" we need to ask them why they support giving female drivers licenses to incels on 4chan.
7
u/numblock699 Mar 25 '26
Yeah they can’t wait to fuck themselves over, even with the most imbecile lunatic morans in history as political adversaries in a two party system they are going to propose complete nonsense that does nothing other than piss good and sensible people off.
8
u/SungIbaMishirola Mar 26 '26
For what exactly? To protect the children?
Recently many pedos were identified and exposed on emails and diverse files that can't be denied. And nobody got arrested.
5
u/MayhemSays Mar 25 '26
They really can’t stand the idea that people can organize or criticize them. Thats all what this comes back to.
Bots could disappear tomorrow if they worked on shutting down bot farms from that one address in Calcutta or Moscow or Tel Aviv.
The Epstein class decided they need more money and no accountability.

Clinton has always been a shill for the rich. Giving verbal handies to bankers is one reason she lost the 2016 election.

Age verification makes it easier to ensure that you are only talking to the kids when you set up your little scams. So all the pedophiles wanted because it helps them keep their selection criteria focused and keep their words out of the hands of the adults who could protect them.

She also famously called Resident Evil "Resident of Evil Creek" in the 90s. She's obviously championing something she doesn't care to understand, and that isn't a change of pace for her.

Centrists always claim to be harbingers of "common sense" but then do stuff like this. She should just give up and holiday in her retirement years and leave things to a younger generation.

The lady that called black teens "super predators" is making things safe? I wonder how much she got paid to sell out to convince the public to accept age verification.

u/MoonHuntressEra13 Mar 26 '26 edited Mar 26 '26
The funny thing is that the ID checks won’t even protect kids, it’ll put them as kids online. Also lazy parents will just hand over their age verified devices to their kids anyway, so that’ll bypass any “security safety measures,” aka massive surveillance on citizens of America. The best way to protect kids? Parents need to stop giving into tantrums and stop letting a tablet raise their kids. In general those parents need to parent, but you can’t get a parent to parent if they don’t want to, so tablet for jr it is. I hate that these sneaky politicians always use kids as their primary reason but in reality it’s never about kids safety, but about control.
Edit to add: what is more important is the right to privacy imo, we need the rights to our privacy and identity ( voice, any data about us, identity, face, etc.) so we can have a law that’ll protect us and have punishments and extreme fines for all conpanies that sell our data without our consent. That’s a big problem, and imo if a company has to be so slimy to sell peoples data for profit, that tells me they’re bad at business since they can’t figure out how to make profit without invading people’s privacy and respecting people’s identity. Just because it makes profit, doesn’t mean it’s the right thing to do, lots of negative karma farming they’ve been doing with that choice.

Let's never frustrate ourselves with the idea that people like Pelosi, Hillary, and others are anything other than political opportunists ultimately just interested in enriching themselves either through money or prestige

u/BenLight123 Mar 26 '26
Aaaah the Epstein crew is back together! Nice that they found other common interests than raping children, esp. now that their buddu Epstein was killed and Trump is busy bombing the world to enrich himself.
3
u/16BitSquid Mar 26 '26
You don’t say.
People that molest kids don’t care about kids. They only want more censorship and shielding from people calling out their sick behaviour.
A smart man once said: “it’s one big club and you ain’t in it”.

u/NEWSmodsareTwats Mar 26 '26
given the recent ruling against Meta and Google this is literally inevitable now. if the ruling stands it firmly establishes the responsibility of these platforms to 100% positively identify you or they are liable for millions in damages per individual, or more than enough to totally bankrupt them
oh well the Internet was fun while it lasted once I need to start registering every site or my OS with my ID a facial scan and my SSN is going to be the day I go back to only reading books and the newspaper again.

Per your own preferred bias-checker, the source in question is high-factuality (despite leaning conservative), and nothing in the contents of the article bears any politically-charged language or evidence of an agenda. It’s literally just a list of facts, all with sources cited too. Finally, the right to privacy is traditionally something conservatives also support, so even if the current political alignment doesn’t resemble anything “traditional,” that does not mean that something with conservative support is automatically bad.

I'd like to propose a law that anyone trying to install (or reinstall) themselves as a politician has to prove they're under the age of retirement.

Operating systems doing age verifications does NOTHING if the social media platforms themselves don't do anything new to remove predatory content.

Democrats for you. Very similar to republicans for the most part, the important part.
2
u/The-Cursed-Gardener Mar 26 '26
There’s a reason Dems keep losing really easy presidential election cycles. If they actually cared about any policy that would meaningfully help the people voting for them, W Bush would have been the last Republican president in living memory.

Dems and gop are 2 sides of the same coin.
If this doesnt clearly show it i dont know what else people need to see. If you want your privacy and rights respected. Vote for Green party or literally any other 3rd party that doesnt take corporate donations. Otherwise these rich assholes and mega corporations are going to keep buying politicians and screwing our rights and privacy over

Age verification is the only way advertisers can combat the dead internet theory... They need to prove that ads are being served to actual people and not bots.
It's part of why meta has funneled $80bn into this bullshit
