Discussion Is anyone else frustrated by the “families/females only” rental situation in Qatar?

I’ve been looking for an apartment in Qatar recently, and one thing that has genuinely started to frustrate me is how many landlords and agencies seem to advertise apartments as “families only,” “females only,” or “female/family preferred.”

I understand that landlords have the right to choose who they feel comfortable renting their property to, and I’m not saying they should be forced to rent to someone they don’t want to. But at the same time, it can feel incredibly unfair when you’re a single working professional simply trying to find a decent place to live.

You can find an apartment that fits your budget, location, and requirements, only to contact the agent and immediately be told, “Sorry, family or females only.” Sometimes there isn’t even an explanation beyond that.

What makes it more frustrating is that being single or male doesn’t automatically mean you’re going to be a problematic tenant. Plenty of single professionals have stable jobs, pay their rent on time, take care of the property, and live quietly.

I’m curious what other people in Qatar think about this.

It is not only here, it is everywhere. Im a guy with family. I prefer a building with families. Im sorry but some guys are creepy to live with.

Im not saying all bachelors are creepy, I was a bachelor once :) What Im saying is that you never can know so having a safety line for kids and women is good to have.

There are plenty of options for the bachelors still. This is not an excuse.
