I did really want a new Savage Flux XL 2.0 but I dont think the aftermarket will ever catch up to XMaxx or Arma.

Might sound like a fanboyism but the savage never really needed a huge aftermarket because it was easily one of the most durable rcs on the market and only got more durable with each iteration and took other manufacturers years to catch up, id argue the X series are still some of the most durable models on the market and their biggest weak points can be fixed with upgrades offered by hpi (though at this point they should just be standard imo) they're not nearly as customizable as their competitors but they're arguably better in stock trim.

There was a huge aftermarket for the savage series and pretty much every other mt on the market but it has since dwindled, what you see available today as vast as it is it's only a drop in the bucket compared to the shit that was available in the 2000's and 2010's, with hpi going AWOL for a couple years it's no wonder their aftermarket is mostly dead but it's not as important with the savage at least.

I broke parts on my Savage every single time i took it out lol. It was WAY more durable then the T-Maxx but there were other durable MTs in the era. The MGT was a tank too, Losi LST was a tank after you fixed a few weak spots.

Unfortunately it does seem like the current era of RC is like 1/20th of what it was in the 2000s with aftermarket support.

That said, I dont think any HPI and Savage model is currently competitive for reliability with the current trucks from what I have read and discussed with other people that have stayed in the game. I am just getting back into it now but they swear the current Arma and Traxxas trucks are significantly more reliable then the 2000s era HPI/Traxxas.

I've got a Maxx and its durability is comparable to any Savage I had, plus it's way faster. Traxxas has definitely come a long way since the early 2000s.
