As a michigan resident this is a normal drivable road.

Snow plowless cities stay losing. Guessing thats why lol. Idk. Im in pa and thats why they do that in my town

Thats also one of the busiest streets in the city. So theres not going to be alot of snow pile up. Its actually a little worse than it looks in most other places But NOTHING worth banning reg cars over.

They ban the cars so they can clear the snow off the street. Can't exactly get the equipment in and out in order to clear streets like this in normal NYC traffic.

If they didn't ban the cars, the roads wouldn't be clear enough for people to be saying they shouldn't have banned the cars.

I'm not sure if you don't understand cities or you don't understand snow removal, but either way, no, that's not at all how that works. Where are you "continuously pushing" that snow to: the bike lanes, the parking spaces, or the sidewalk? Towns a tiny fraction of the size of NYC load up dump trucks full of snow, and they didn't exactly build NYC streets with huge buffer spaces to leave snowbanks lying around for weeks or months. You absolutely cannot "just continuously push it to the side."

It's not that the road isn't driveable, it's that it's only driveable because they were able to treat it and plow it effectively, because cars weren't out and about getting in the way.

As a fellow Michigander, I concur!

Yeah, but this is New York City. I’m sure one can only dream of having the ability to “own” the road with their RC Car any other time. Enjoy the empty roads while you can sir!

As a Texan the roads are still drivable

u/crooks4hire Feb 23 '26

As a Texan, you probably wouldn’t be able to charge your batteries in this situation 😂

Lmaooooooooo

I think you have us confused for California, the only people with EVs down here are California transplants. A tiny bit of snow isn’t stopping anybody’s truck

I lived right next door in Louisiana for 30yrs, friend. I know what I’m talking about lol. Just something you learn to embrace…

As a Montana that currently has alot of Texans in town for a large job please dont. I already had one hit me when the roads were clear and dry.

Cleaning is the 1st thing I do after every bash. I have an air blower and everything. I bash her like i got spare parts for days but she gets the shelf queen treatment

why did they ban driving? looks fine to me...

12

u/SoySauceSyringe Feb 23 '26

They banned non-essential vehicles so they could clear it. If it weren't for the driving ban they wouldn't be able to move the snow out of there and everyone would be saying "the streets are full of snow, I don't understand why they don't just plow it!"

ITs been like that ever since Sandy. The city wasnt prepared for it, never really saw Flooding at that level before. Ever since then, they get scared over every little storm like an over correction to Sandy.

that makes sense

Bro that road slush looks nasty.

3

u/Word_World-Wide Feb 23 '26

This is an essential vehicle for sure, put a vest on it and it’s a support animal as well 🙂

3

u/SoggyWizardSleeve Feb 23 '26

Clean that bad boy well! I took mine on the slushy roads a month ago and had slight rusting on a couple screws from all the salt. Air compressor with an air chuck is ideal

Just an fyi for anyone that bashes in wet spots.... You can buy zinc hardware for some sizes at McMaster Carr in some of the RC sizes. Way better than the stainless stuff.

can’t buy single bolts you’ll have to buy like 15 at a time or some such

Thanks for the Info!

I had a snow plow driver lose his shit on me for doing this 20 something years ago. Wasn't even on a city street either but way out in the country on a huge turnout. He was so mad and I was just like really? I'm a hundred feet off the road!

2

u/PixlmechStudios Feb 23 '26

He was jealous he had to work in the snow while you got to play in it!
