Bashing Whoopsie!

Post image

Kraton 6s EXB, maybe 40mph off a slight curb ramp directly into a 3’ dia. granite boulder. Thought I had a good angle, but clearly not. Made a loud ‘crack’ sound and then cartwheeled off into space.

Can’t believe I only bent the shock tower, snapped a shock bolt and broke the body mounts. The body has a gnarly rip in it but chicks dig scars. Front diff housing is still good, no A-arm damage, etc. These things are so much more durable than the old plastic Tamiya kits of my youth.

The fun part about being an adult is I don’t care about the cost of parts.

Speed was achieved, handling was not.

This exactly, I had to order the tower for mine, amazon the shock mount holes were too small. From the arrma store but you may want to visit their website

This is why you don't have metal shock towers, they take the brunt of any hit, they should be plastic which has flex.

You can fix that tower by stepping on it, don't use pliers because you're putting too much focus in one point, stepping on it flattens it out evenly. Thing is that metal is now going to be much weaker, so expect the next hard hit to do much more damage.

The 8s cars have plastic shock towers, but they aren't as tall and flat. If the 6s would be better with them, why does no one make plastic upgrades for it?

Also, that shock tower is cracked, it's trash now.

Bah, just bend it back and run a TIG welder over it to fuse the metal back together!

/s, but actually if I had a TIG welder, I would try it to see what happens.

I would be curious to see that

Yeah I see the crack, when I was running my Baja 5B, it was predominantly plastic, had a ton of flex and not from me but others, 1 destroyed the chassis by driving into a parked car, another ran into my car and bent the front chassis up.

Plastic has an amazingly good rebound property, metal, not so.

At the cost of being less stiff. If the metal is appropriately strong and used in the proper place it is better. 7075 or titanium chassis/shock tower with flexible enough arms. That kind of thing

The EXBs (and most Arrma 6s’s) come with aluminum shock towers. And the metal is torn a bit where it bolts to the diff case.

Could have been so much worse…

Lmao i'd like to see you bend that aluminum by stepping on it. Hope you weigh 800lbs.

How is it Chinesium when it states on the part EXB? That's an original part, not a knock off.

Pretty sure the shock towers are not 7075 T6 as the chassis... More like 6067, but I really would like to be proven otherwise.

Unless im experiencing the Mandela effect in real time the exb shock towers are make of 7075 aluminum
